I removed the following portion of text:

Captain Kangaroo received an honorary doctorate in 1969.

I was not able to verify this information and the text was written by an anon, so I have no way of verifying it with that person. It seems a little odd that a well-known university would award an honorary doctorate to a television character. Then again, it was the '60s, so who knows...

If you can provide a reference, then feel free to put it back in.

I reinstated the information deleted about the Greek organisations; it seems encyclopædic, & has at least some references. It may need reworking, if there are inaccuracies in it. Cheers, Lindsay 18:07, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but it's a fail. Major problems:

  • Read WP:LEAD - the lead should summarize the rest of the article, not introduce new information. The second paragraph all about that donation should be fielded in a "History" section, while the lead should summarize the school's history, campus, academics, people, and student life.
  • "Notable alumni and faculty" is entirely uncited and should be in prose rather than a list.
  • "Alma Mater" and "Fight song" should absolutely be deleted. If they are important enough to be discussed, information about them should be included (i.e. who wrote it, when it's sung, why it's important, etc.) but not its actual text.
  • There's a {{Refimprove}} tag in the References section.
  • Trivia should not be included.
  • Why is historical information split between "Background" and "History and trivia"?

In short, this has a long way to come, mostly in terms of structure and emphasis. Look at some existing featured articles on universities (Dartmouth College, Cornell University, Georgetown University) to get an idea of how this article should be structured.
