Alfa Romeo 169

The Alfa Romeo 169 is the replacement for the Alfa Romeo 166. Car is scheduled to be published in 2010[1] and will most probably share some components with Maserati.[2]
Some tantalising spy shots have appeared for a prototype spotted in the Netherlands for a very long, low Alfa never seen before, sharing dimensions with the Maserati Quattroporte, thus making this prototype 169 one of the most fascinating new Alfas. Other internet design studies indicate that the 169 mayshare styling feautures with the 159, and possibly the Visconti concept car.
However, the platform of 169 is almost certain to be completely new, and to share very little with either 164 or 166 predecessor vehicles.
A definite feature of the 169 will be the 4.7L V8 engine used concurrently in the 8c Competizione, and the retention of manual gearboxes, which is now an Alfa Romeo tradition that customers continue to demand, making the 169 possibly the last true luxury saloon to be offered with a manual transmission as standard.
