[edit] Page title
Should this page be moved to "Sir Alec Jeffreys" in recognition of his knighthood? --Red Sunset 19:44, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Without looking it up, I understand that it can be, but it is usually not moved. I can not quote one where sir is in the name of the page. Usually, the notability of the person is shown by the text, and the introduction should contain key points like this. Snowman (talk) 19:52, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- The naming convention is not to include "Sir" in the article name Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(names_and_titles)#Other_non-royal_names number 5. Thincat (talk) 16:10, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Question?
Is this man a genius or what? Discovering DNA at age 34? Amazing. Why he hasn't or wasn't awarded the Nobel Prize is beyond me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.118.45.23 (talk) 04:29, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- Generally, biologists do their best work in their 30s, and in mathematical disciplines it is younger, in their 20s. Snowman (talk) 15:46, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it seems Friedrich Miescher discovered DNA at the age of 25 (see DNA#History) and James Watson was 25 when he discovered the structure of DNA (along with an aging 37 year old Francis Crick). Thincat (talk) 16:23, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Awards and recognition section
The large number of wikilinks and dates in this section makes it rather messy-looking and a little tricky to take in. Would a list format be tidier and easier to appreciate? --Red Sunset 14:40, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- I am pleased that you have raised that point. I would not go as far as to say that it is messy, but while I have been checking and adding to it, I thought that it would be easier to read in a list. It is probably ready for changing to a list now. Snowman (talk) 14:58, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] B-Class status
As a result of recent hard work in developing this article, I've rated it as B-Class --Red Sunset 20:32, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
