[edit] Fair use vs. PD

At [1], there is no indication that the BBC has in fact released the image into the public domain. They have given instruction on how to use that image. The instructions specifically indicate the image's display should be drawn from their servers. This does provide a commercial incentive for them. Therefore, the image is not to be considered in the public domain unless positive affirmation has been provided by the BBC that it has been. For instructions on how to request such permissions, please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Thank you. --Durin 01:48, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

It was originally tagged for fair-use. Some guy changed it today. – Chacor 03:48, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replacable fair use disputed

This button still meets our fair use criteria - it's meant to show BBC efforts to keep Johnston in the limelight while he was in captivity. Just because he is free doesn't mean that this image, which is important to show what the BBC did, should be deleted. Chacor 05:52, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I agree with Chacor. This image is not to show what he looks like, it is to show the BBC reaction (which is discussed in the article) in a very important and relevent part of his life. J Milburn 11:23, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
