After-school activity
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An after-school activity is an ungraded, voluntary elective, set up by a primary or secondary school. Some schools feel that this allows students to take courses or compete in intramural sports they would not otherwise enroll in, for fear of failure.
Students that participate in after-school activities tend to be victims of violent crime less often- daily occurences of violent crimes peak between 3 and 4 PM, directly after the end of the school day. These students also experience lower rates of drug use and teen pregnancy.[1]
