Aequidens is a genus of fish in the family Cichlidae. The genus itself is poorly defined and polyphyletic. Many species have been reallocated to other genera such as Bujurquina, Laetacara, Tahuantinsuyoa (Kullander, 1986), Krobia and Cleithracara (Kullander & Nijssen, 1989).
Two fishes commonly sold in the aquarium hobby are Aequidens rivulatus (green terror) and Aequidens pulcher (blue acara).
