I am updating this section to reflect the experience of current sufferers. The doctors have descibed the disease as occurring in an obese population of women, because they only got to see the disease after it had been active for several years. Comments appreciated.

A number of articles under this category don't belong, like the one about MSL. Any one mind if it is removed? --Dercum 20:57, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Elder with this Disease

My mother is 80 years old and has been suffering with this for about 15 years. We feel it started almost unnoticeably, and is now extremely painful for her. It shows the most in her upper left arm as bumpy looking flesh. She is not overweight, she has lost a lot of weight, and yet this bumpy flesh remains. It is starting in her right arm as well, and we think it is in parts of her mid-section. She also has rheumatoid and osteo arthritis. She is very limited in what kind of medicines she can take. We have not found a doctor or anyone who is familiar with this disease. We think there may be other things happening to her that may be related, doctors cannot identify a lot of her pains. This disease doesn't show up on scans because it is fatty tissue and nerves that are affected.

ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE VERY WELCOME TO US, FROM ANYONE.

[edit] Conclusions?

I question the inclusion of this. It makes this sound more like an academic paper than an encyclopedia. Could this information be included in the previous section about psychotherapy? Mseliw 13:32, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Start-class rating due to lack of references

This could easily be promoted to a B-class article if someone would find a few references. Surely there's information at the NIH's website, or in the Merck manual, or a good background source at a patient support group? WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:08, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
