The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was announced early in 2007 at the Abu Dhabi F1 Festival. It is planned to be held in the 2009 season. The track will feature a Monaco-style harbour front used on public roads and it will also feature a section similar to the Eau Rouge corner of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
While there is no official date for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the countdown on the Abu Dhabi website leads to Saturday, January 31st 2009 but this is most likely to be an official opening date. The FIA speculated in March 2008 that the race might be held near the end of the 2009 season in October.
