[edit] Leaving messages for people
Leave messages on the "discussion" page, not the user page.
As far as your schoolkid soccer buddies are concerned, we have no verification from any independent source that they exist at all. I'm sure they do, but so do six billion other people. The question is whether they merit an article. If they're the best soccer players at their high school, quite frankly no one outside the school cares. If they actually are signed by, and placed on the active roster of, a major professional team, that would be notable. Clearly that hasn't happened yet, because if it does, it will be in the news. If that happens, and they actually apear in major league games, feel free to recreate the articles. Fan1967 23:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, the normal process is to leave messages on someone's User Talk page (not the User Page). Also, when you leave a message, sign it with four tildes (like this: ~~~~). When you Save the page, it gets translated to your name and the date and time. Fan1967 18:15, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] your userpage
Hello there - may I enquire about how you have set-up your userpage? Have you copied it from somewhere else? While it's ok to "borrow" good bits from other people (nice to tell them), it means that some of the information you have on your Userpage is incorrect. For example - unless I am mistaken, you do not have 2,500 edits and you are not approved for the use of Vandalproof.
Do you need some help getting set-up?
If so - let me know on my talkpage.

[edit] Thank you
I much appreciate this token. Football articles have given me a great chance to express my interest and learn about European sports organization. As well, I do hold Les Bleus and Arsenal (especially manager Arsène Wenger) in high regard. Maybe there will be a repeat of the final at France '98 this time... GoldDragon 01:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism
Just to keep you in the loop - I've looked into the guidelines and my removing the Vandalproof logo from your page was not vandalism and I will be applying to admin to get the warning you placed on my page removed from my record. --Charlesknight 09:16, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Natasha Lyonne
This doesn't change anything on the French page, but for the record, it is pretty clear that Lyonne's mother is Jewish, too. See this at the bottom of the page [1]. She says her mother's parents were Holocaust survivors, with one being in Auschwitz. I kind of doubt that they were from France, though you never know. I have never seen a reliable source that described either Lyonne's mother or (this is the important part for the list) Lyonne herself as French. Mad Jack 08:28, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] An imposter account
An imposter account, AbdelkweIi (talk • contribs • page moves • block user • block log) (AbdelkweIi) was recently created by someone in an attempt to impersonate you. That account has been blocked; but the imposter did commit several acts of vandalism, apparently to try and harm your reputation. Just thought you would like to know. --EngineerScotty 23:40, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] French Names
Bounjour Abdelkweli! I was just wondering, can you tell me what is my name in French, I began to be intersted in the France region and the French language, and I was just asking can you translate my name which is Abdullah Geelah in French, and can you write it in my userpage where the section of my name in different languages is (if you know a different language apart from the ones in my userpage please write them in), I would be extremely grateful if you do!!! [edit] List
The point is that there is no reason to have two lists. If we already have a List of Cajuns there is zero to no reason to paste these exact same names onto the French list and repeat ourselves. Furthermore, we don't put Cuban-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Argentianian-Americans, etc. onto the list of Spanish-Americans, do we? No, we don't, and it's the exact same story with those. Mad Jack 17:17, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- BTW, you've broken WP:3RR; you've reverted four times during 24 hours. I urge you to revert yourself. Mad Jack 17:23, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- I broke 3rr and then immediately reverted myself, but you didn't. Anyway, Italian-Americans from New York and Italian-Americans from Chicago are not quite an apt comaprison to Cajuns and "French Americans". But if we do compare them, you'll notice we have no "List of Italian-Americans from New York", but we do have a "List of Cajuns" already. My main point here is that we would not list "Italian-Americans from New York" on a separate list and then list those people again on "List of Italian-Americans". Being on one list for being Italian-American is enough. The same for Cajuns - we have a "List of Cajuns", and I don't see why we would list those same people all over again for the exact same reason on another list. And finally, it's WP:Original research, because in almost all cases the sources refer to those people as "Cajun", not as "French", and that's for a reason - which is that Cajuns and French-Americans are no more close than Cuban-Americans and Spanish-Americans are; since we don't list the entire population of South America as "Spanish-Americans", I don't see why we would go out of our way to list Cajuns as "French-Americans", when it seems most reliable sources don't do that. Mad Jack 23:39, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Let's keep the discussion on the talk page. I've already indicated my reasoning for wanting them separated. -- Merope 00:54, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Comeau 00:35, 07 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Accusation of vandalism
On my talk page you accused me of vandalism of an article and issued a rather stern admonition. I cannot find that article, can you point me to it? For what it's worth, I regularly review candidates for speedy deletion; the criteria are quite narrow and often I remove db's that don't meet the criteria. I see that you have been previously blocked for incivility, so while I will initially WP:AGF, I expect that you can point me to what you base your accusation upon. Carlossuarez46 16:52, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- what article are you talking about? There is no article Paul Callister and apparently never has been. And as for an accusation of vandalism; who do you think should do the "review" of db's? Is anyone who upon reviewing them that comes up with a difference of opinion going to get your "vandalism" post? Carlossuarez46 17:03, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've found the article: Paul Collister. It's a typical stub that probably wouldn't survive afd, but technically not a speedy candidate. As for self-promotion, it's hard to see that the editor has a WP:COI for the "self" part and without even a website link or other contact information much less any indication that he's selling anything, the "promotion" angle doesn't convince me either. If you really want the article gone (no harm in having that opinion, I really don't have much stomach for keeping it but I cannot let my personal feelings "expand" the speedy rationale), take it to afd - you'll almost certainly be successful. Carlossuarez46 17:20, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- I can live with it tagged as you have done, again I don't mind if you later decide to take it to afd either. Take care. Carlossuarez46 18:14, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:CVU status
The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! [edit] September 2007
Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with List of French Americans. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. Leuko 01:01, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Newsletter n°1
Bonjour and welcome to the first WikiProject France newsletter!! It should become a monthly special of our project, but until the next issue, here are some points to consider for the month:
- In an effort to determine the active members from the inactive, all members are asked to simply sign on my special userpage.
- I have slightly rearranged and updated the Project page, putting all the featured lists in collapsible tables. This unclutteres the page and you only have to see them if you want to. Give your feelings at the talk page.
- I have made a Wikipedia advert for our project, Image:Qxz-ad108.gif, what do you think? Personally I feel the words need improving ...
- There are still map problems at Template:French commune - any help at resolving them would be greatly appreciated.
- What about starting a monthly drive? We currently have no Featured Portals (except for the Basque Portal which really isn't French any way), so how about improving Portal:France??? I don't know what's exactly wrong but the criteria can be seen at Wikipedia:Featured portal criteria.
It doesn't seem like a lot, so I hope we will still have enough problems for nexts months issue. Salut till the next issue, ChrisDHDR (17:11, 10 November 2007 (UTC)).

WikiProject Newsletter n°2
It's been one high aiming month! The French WikiProject and related pages have been aiming high for Christmas - and have received an equal number of presents in return!
- The French Portal is now a Featured Portal!!! It passed its Candidacy with 100%. Special thanks go to NYArtsnWords and all those that have made this Portal work.
- The Newsletter has made it to a second issue. You can find its page at WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter and its archives at WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter/Archives.
- A new page has been setup (WikiProject France/Links) to provide an index of the Projects/Portals pages (as well as helping newbees). When creating any pages in the Project/Portal namespace, please add them to the index page. This page also give WP:FRANCE members a handy watchlist.
- As like last time, members are asked to renew their memberships at Wikipedia:WikiProject France/Members.
- I will be on holiday when the next issue is meant to come out so could some generous person(s) please do the next issue at Wikipedia:WikiProject France/Outreach/Newsletter.
Well, that's this issue. Au revoir et à bientôt till the next time, ChrisDHDR (19:02, 9 December 2007 (UTC)).

DO you have a link for the licencing of this image from the FFF? Fasach Nua (talk) 06:47, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- The FFF does not license their material under the GFDL (as was claimed in Image:Rpedros.jpg), or under any other free license, and in fact claims "all rights reserved". Therefore, all derivative works based on the above image (namely Image:RPBarnstar.jpg) are also copyright violations. [edit] AfD nomination of Le Cercle Francais
I have nominated Le Cercle Francais, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Le Cercle Francais. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Noetic Sage 04:27, 3 April 2008 (UTC) ==What qualifies French ancestry==?I have found that editors are extremely hostile when I try to include people who have recent French surnames in their lineage as people of French ethnicity. For instance, Virginie Avegno Gautreau (Madame X ) was born in Lousiana to a Spanish father and French mother; Lee Harvey Oswald (French grandfather,John Claverie of New Orleans),Keith Richards (maternal grandfather,Gus Dupree). Why the hostility?jeanne (talk) 14:35, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
