User talk:Abdecker1213

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This user's request to have the autoblock on his/her IP address lifted has been DECLINED.

Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Abdecker1213". The reason given for Abdecker1213's block is: "repeated bad page creation".

  • Decline reason:

You have not been autoblocked. However, you have been blocked directly as stated in your block log. Since you have not provided a reason for being unblocked, your request has been declined. You may provide a reason for being unblocked by adding {{unblock|your_reason_here}} to your talk page. -- Tiptoety talk 22:12, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "I am a news anchor for ABC and would like to create a wikipedia page"

Decline reason: "As a journalist, I'm sure you are familiar with the importance of avoiding conflicts of interest in your reporting; that's why Wikipedia editors all avoid writing about themselves or their work. In general, when you get a warning notice, you should read it carefully and discuss the objection with others rather than ignoring it- when you ignore warnings, the only way we can get you to stop what you're doing is to block you. If your only interest in Wikipedia is writing about yourself, which you aren't going to do any longer, there's no reason to unblock this account. — FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 18:29, 28 May 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

{{unblock|I do not plan on creating a page, or editing information about myself. I would like to have the ability to edit. There are pages on Wikipedia with my name, job, etc. listed, and I would at least like access to the overall Wikipedia site.}}

@Administrator: I would like to advise anyone looking at this to consider this unblock request. Being blocked on any website can be harmful to one IRL, and the created pages appear to be less malicious and more like new-user test pages. An indefinite block may be unnecessary.
@Amanda: I would suggest reading WP:COI. While the guideline is only a guideline, it is a good one, and care should be taken when dealing with yourself or someone close on Wikipedia. Also, if you would like to exercise your right to vanish if another unblock is declined, you may replace the page with {{db|right to vanish}}. The Evil Spartan (talk) 19:43, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
I tagged the article Amanda decker for deletion several times and warned the user every time. The block was perfectly justified given her actions. However, I would endorse an unblock on the promise that this user not attempt to write articles about herself or promote her name or company anywhere on Wikipedia. —BradV 19:48, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Assuming you don't continue to create bad pages nor edit about yourself per our conflict of interest guidelines and our other policies, I'm more than happy to unblock you. Cheers. --slakrtalk / 20:51, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
