"A World Without Love" is a song that was recorded by the English duo Peter and Gordon and released as their first single in February 1964, reaching #1 in the UK Singles Chart in April. The song was written by Paul McCartney and attributed to Lennon/McCartney. Though never officially recorded by the Beatles, the song does appear as a Beatles studio demo on a Japanese import version of Abbey Road. The Peter and Gordon single included "If I Were You" written by the duo. It was later included on the duo's self-titled debut album in the UK, and in the U.S. on an album of the same name. In June 1964, "A World Without Love" topped the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. It is one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
