[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia

Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

You are welcome to continue editing articles without logging in, but you may wish to create an account. Doing so is free, requires no personal information, and provides several benefits. If you edit without a username, your IP address (91.104.138.120) is used to identify you instead.

In any case, I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your IP address (or username if you're logged in) and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome! [edit] Regarding your post at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard

Hi, you posted a notice regarding spam on the Administrators' noticeboard, it looks like a Bot took care of it [1]. Really this was what we would call vandalism, rather than spam, but the effect is the same. For future reference, notices such at this will be acted on more quickly if posted at Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, which is specifically for notices regarding vandalism and spam. Thank you.--Doug.(talk contribs) 17:32, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Just a correction, I sent you to the wrong place, spam and vandalism should be reported to Administrator intervention against vandalism. Sorry for any confusion.--Doug.(talk contribs) 17:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] March 2008

Hi, the recent edit you made to LittleBigPlanet has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. J.delanoygabsadds 17:54, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

The recent edit you made to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thanks. J.delanoygabsadds 18:02, 17 March 2008 (UTC))

If you think that abbreviations are better, please discuss it on the article's talk page. J.delanoygabsadds 18:12, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button Image:Signature_icon.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 18:17, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Request for help

{{helpme}}

  • You asked for help with "how to make articles better." There are many ways to do this on Wikipedia. To start small, you may pick a random article (in the quick links click "Random article") and then begin to edit the page ("Edit" at the top). Look for grammar mistakes, obvious errors, and other things like that, and fix them - this is called "copy editing." If you grow tired of that or it's not your thing, you can always pick a random article, and then do some research on that topic at your local library or on respected sources on the Internet. Add that information to the article, and don't forget to tag the source you used (WP:Citing sources)! If you need any more help, just write me on my talk page. // hackmiester (contact) 18:29, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Second request for help

{{helpme}}

  • You asked how to "Avoid geting blocked." Well this is very simple. Admins block people who are vandalising Wikipedia and entering in useless information that only serves to disrupt the community. If you avoid this you will be fine. // hackmiester (contact) 18:46, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I retract my final warning. Replacing those links and phrases may help the page load faster (very negligibly though) it's make a disambiguation mess for any potential readers, which ultimately is more important. The first first reverts by Delanoy should have clued you in that it's not helping the project overall. So please don't continue doing it. --ÐeadΣyeДrrow (Talk | Contribs) 19:08, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] {{helpme}}

Well I just explained what vandalising is. It is making destructive edits, basically. While I wouldn't see your previous edits as destructive, they're not constructive (replacing PlayStation 2 with PS2 isn't a correction, it removes some information, because PS2 is more ambiguous). // hackmiester (contact) 18:58, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

{{helpme|What does ambiguous mean}}

Hi there, please see this for the definition.
--The Helpful One (Review) 19:15, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
In terms of wikipedia, see WP:DAB. As hackmiester stated, PS2 can mean many things - see PS2 (disambiguation). Hoof Hearted (talk) 19:17, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Strongsauce (talk) 19:12, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] {{helpme|What does ambiguous mean}}

I'm sorry, but you're going to need to use a dictionary. I am glad to help you, but things like looking up definitions are where the Internet comes in. Also, using {{helpme}} to request help with issues such as these is not the best option. All the things I've suggested can be found on the tutorial and using {{helpme}} was not necessary. Please avoid it except in emergencies. Finally, as the last poster said, your edits are being reverted because they are not constructive. Replacing PlayStation 2 with PS2, for example, is not constructive because PlayStation 2 is a more recognised term. Please cease replacing phrases with abbreviations - it is rarely appropriate. // hackmiester (contact) 19:18, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
