[edit] amen break

hi. that message is merely a "boilerplate" template; i didn't write it and do apologize if it's a little inaccurate. there are a number of problems with linking to a site like that;

  1. it can be interpreted as spam, or an endorsement of one site over another, whether you or i like it or not.
  2. the amen break is copyrighted material, and even though that copyright has been abused to produce a lot of great music, wiki can't be seen to endorse that. the drummer who played the original break died without seeing a cent of profit from his contribution to a whole bunch of musical genres.
  3. although ordinarily, thirty-second low-quality samples of recordings are permitted, seeing as the sample in question is itself less than thirty seconds long, it would be a rather liberal interpretation of wiki's fair use policy to introduce the sample to the page either directly or indirectly.

i would encourage you to take up the matter on the talk page of the article and see if a bunch of interested editors can reach a consensus. if you do, i'll reciprocate by bringing the matter to the attention of WikiProject Electronic Music members and see can we get a bit of input from there. i'd also encourage you to have a good read of the spam and external links policies linked above so you're entering into debate with a good grasp of the relevant policies. hope this helps. -Kaini 00:09, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
