[edit] November 2007

This is regarding your canvassing on behalf of local Freecycles. If there is one locally, then it is possibly notable and might be included on a list of external links, but that's by no means certain. Canvassing for one's creation on Wikipedia is not allowed (see WP:NOT.

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, one or more of the external links you added to the page London Borough of Redbridge do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Kbthompson 11:32, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to City of London. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Kbthompson 11:32, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your edits to Yorkshire and the Humber

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Yorkshire and the Humber. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

[edit] Your edits to Scunthorpe

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Scunthorpe, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from all of Wikipedia.

You have been temporarily blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for abuse of editing privileges. This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "I am new to wikipedia. Freecycle groups are local non-profit community groups and have no paid staff. They are a powerful community resource. I had no idea that adding a link to a local community resource was against wiki guidelines. I will not add any further if it is considered inappropriate, but think this is a great shame."

Decline reason: "When your 24-hour block is over, you'll be welcome to edit again. You might find the external links guideline and the notability criteria to make interesting reading while you're blocked; they'll give you a better idea of what kinds of information an international encyclopedia needs most. — FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:55, 16 November 2007 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

Actually, I undid my block (before this unblock request) in response to your request on my talk page. You should be able to edit now. --Ed (Edgar181) 13:32, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks Ed - I really do appreciate this - I cannot apologise enough. With warmest wishes, S.Anderson
