.рф (Russian: Российская Федерация, Russian Federation) is a hypothetical future Internet top-level domain for use by the Russian Federation. It may possibly be introduced at some point in the future.[1]
If this domain is created, some speculate sites' names in this new domain may be in Cyrillic alphabet only[citation needed].
The direct transcription of "ru" into Cyrillic, "ру", or abbreviation of "Russia/Россия", "ро", may be avoided in order not to be confused with "py"/"po" in Latin letters which refer to Paraguay and a yet unassigned code respectively.
