Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia as we drive for print or DVD publication; see the welcome page to learn more. Thanks. [edit] Eddie Izzard
Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia! Your test worked, and thank you for reverting or removing it yourself. The best way to do tests in the future would be to use the sandbox. You can look at these pages as well: how to edit a page, the tutorial, and how to write a great article. All of these pages are good places to start. Again, welcome, and I hope that you will like Wikipedia. Gwernol 15:41, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for experimenting with the page Music on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. -- No Guru 18:05, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Regarding your link spamming on Metronomy and many other pages:
This is your last warning.
The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Hu 18:09, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
You have been temporarily blocked from editing Wikipedia for continuing to add spam links. If you wish to make useful contributions, you are welcome to come back after the block expires. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia. -- No Guru 18:12, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Royal Television Society. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. Veinor (talk to me) 17:07, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] March 2007
This is your only warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to 2004 Summer Olympics, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing their websites from appearing on Wikipedia and other sites that use the MediaWiki spam blacklist at all. -- Whereizben - Chat with me - My Contributions 19:00, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Listcruft
Hello anon user from ITN!
There are two applicable essays that spring to mind about your continued addition of an unencyclopedic list of people to the Wikipedia article about your employer.
First, you might like to read Wikipedia:Listcruft, which is a good essay about how Wikipedia doesn't benefit from unordered, unencyclopedic list of any type in our articles. They don't help our readers in any way and befoul the articles they exist in. Lists have their place on Wikipedia, but it is a specific place - categories of existing articles (that's what you can see on the BBC article, for instance). Some lists with a specific ordered nature to them also get articles that have titles beginning List of... - but generally these need a specific raison d'etre beyond what a category could do.
Second, you might be interested in WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Basically, people very very very often point to their pet project and say it should exist because other stuff exists. Unless the other stuff is removed, their stuff should stay. Now, this is clearly a bankrupt line to follow - much like saying we shouldn't fund NHS Accident and Emergency Departments until we've made the roads - the number one reason for A&E admissions - 100% safe. This is the same reasoning and, as you see, it really doesn't work.
A third thing you might like to look, unrelated to the first two, is Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Editing at work at ITN and editing ITN articles - especially if aggressively editing - is probably not a good idea.
In the meantime, I've attached below a nice welcome template we give to new editors who are trying to make a positive impact at Wikipedia, which lists some useful pages that explain what we're doing here and why. These are useful even to established editors and are worth having around for reference. Thanks for your time and happy editing in future! REDVERS ↔ SЯEVDEЯ 19:50, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions.
Currently, you are editing without a username. You can continue to do so, as you are not required to log in to Wikipedia to read and edit articles; however, logging in will result in a username being shown instead of your IP address (yours is 213.219.44.247). Logging in does not require any personal details, and there are many other benefits for logging in.
When you edit pages:
- Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
- Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
- Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such content or editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism.
The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. For now, if you are stuck, you can click the edit this page tab above, type {{helpme}} in the edit box, and then click Save Page; an experienced Wikipedian will be around shortly to answer any questions you may have. Also feel free to ask a question on my talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. REDVERS ↔ SЯEVDEЯ 19:50, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edit to Late of the Pier (diff) was reverted by an automated bot. You have been identified as a new user or a logged out editor using a hosting or shared IP address to add email addresses/phone numbers or YouTube/Imageshack/Photobucket/Flickr or related links to a non-talk page. You can restore any other content by editing the page and re-adding that content. The links can be reviewed and restored by established users. Thank you for contributing! // VoABot II (talk) 09:14, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Space and the Woods do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): rule: '\bmyspace\.com' (link(s): http://www.myspace.com/filthyfewuk) . If the external link you inserted or changed was to a blog, forum, free web hosting service, or similar site, then please check the information on the external site thorougly. Note that such sites should probably not be linked to if they contain information that is in violation of the creators copyright (see Linking to copyrighted works), or they are not written by a recognised, reliable source. Linking to sites that you are involved with is also strongly discouraged (see conflict of interest).
Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! XLinkBot (talk) 12:14, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia.
