[edit] Spelling

Thanks for your contribution to World War I. As you read articles at Wikipedia you will sometimes see words spelled differently than you are used to. Before making a change, consider the possibility that the article is using the British spelling instead of the American spelling. A lot of words we Americans spell with "-ize", they spell with "-ise". Like "Dramatisations".

If an article uses a particular dialect of English, we try to keep it consistent throughout the whole article. A common rule of thumb is that if the subject is distinctly American (like baseball), we use American English, if it's distinctly British (like the Queen), we use British English, and if it's neither then it's up to the person who originally starts the article. The World War I article is written using British English, so the spelling was correct as you saw it.

See Wikipedia:Manual of Style (spelling) for more information. Kafziel 18:28, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
