[edit] Potential Bids
[edit] Europe
Andorra la Vella, Andorra- Considered a bid for 2014, but backing now likely from the Andorran olympic committee in 2022
Prahova Valley, Romania
Romanian Prime Minister Călin Popescu Tăriceanu announced on June 14, 2007 that the country is considering a bid for the Games to be held in that area[1]
[edit] North America
United States
John Bennion, a managing director of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, has suggested the next chance for the United States to host the Winter Olympics is 2022.[2]

Montreal, Canada – Lake Placid, USA
Officials from Quebec and the State of New York have met to discuss the possibility of a joint bid between those two cities considering the proximity between them.[3] With Vancouver hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics, the earliest that Canada could hope to host the Olympics is 2022.[3] If selected, the bid would be the first multi-national Olympics games bid, and the first time a city has hosted both the summer and winter Olympics as Montreal hosted the 1976 Summer Olympics. A similar multi-national bid between Vancouver and Seattle is being explored for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
[edit] Oceania
New Zealand
According to 2007 reports, the New Zealand Olympic Committee is pushing for a bid for a Winter Olympic Games.[4] Whilst no city has yet applied to the NZOC, suggestions include Queenstown and Dunedin, or a bid covering the whole of New Zealand, the country's South Island or the Otago region. No certain specific Games has been specified, however 2018, 2022 or 2026 are most likely. A successful New Zealand bid would be the first Winter Olympics in the nation and the Southern Hemisphere, unless the proposed Santiago bid for 2018 is successful.
