2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification

The 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification will see various countries take part to determine another 12 spots to the final tournament in Qatar base on the new qualification system set by Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Four teams will not take part because they have automatically qualified for 2011 tournament as host and top three finishers in the 2007 tournament, they are: Qatar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Korea Republic.
On the new qualification system also will see the winner of AFC Challenge Cup 2008 and AFC Challenge Cup 2010 will go through automatically, if the winner of AFC Challenge Cup 2010 is identical to the 2008 tournament, the runner-up will receive an automatic berth for 2011 AFC Asian Cup.

On December 6, 2007 the Asian Football Confederation announced the seeding for the preliminary round of the 2011 tournament:[1]

The first round of qualifying matches will put teams ranked 23-24 into pairs for a home and away qualifier.
The winner will advance to round two, where they will be joined by the 19 teams seeded 4-22 and split into five groups of four.
The top two in each group will go through to the 2011 tournament where they will join the automatic qualifiers -- Qatar, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and South Korea.
