1989 UK Snooker Championship

The 1989 StormSeal UK Championship took place at the Guildhall, Preston in November and TV stages shown on BBC TV took place between 25 November and 3 December 1989.
StormSeal became the new sponsors of the UK Championship and during the championship, Defending champion Doug Mountjoy lost in the last 64 agaianst rookie player Joe O'Boyle. While the 1988 runner-up Stephen Hendry won his first of five UK titles when he beat six times winner Steve Davis 16-12 and it took him on course for the World No 1 spot in the game.
