The Seattle Mariners 1979 season was their 3rd since the franchise creation, and ended the season finishing 6th in the American League West, finishing with a record of 67-95. The Mariners hosted the All-Star Game in 1979.

- April 10, 1979: Bobby Valentine signed as a Free Agent with the Seattle Mariners.
- June 5, 1979: Bud Black was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 17th round of the 1979 amateur draft. [2]
- June 5, 1979: Tom Henke was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 20th round of the 1979 amateur draft, but did not sign. [3]

The 1979 Major League Baseball All-Star Game was the 50th playing of the midsummer classic between the all-stars of the American League (AL) and National League (NL), the two leagues comprising Major League Baseball. The game was held on July 17, 1979, at The Kingdome in Seattle, Washington the home of the Seattle Mariners of the American League. The game resulted in the National League defeating the American League 7-6.
