[edit] History

The American Cup had been suspended since 1925, but was held one last time this year. At the time, the American Soccer League was boycotting the National Challenge Cup which may have led to the American Cup being held. While previous editions had featured a single game, single elimination games, this year the semifinals were played in a home and away series.
