Yuca (music)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yuca or Yuka has been used as a semi disrespectful term referring to Metal and Rock music derivations and their followers (called "Yuqueros"). The term is used in Latin American countries, thought most popularly in Venezuela.

The origins or relationship between the term and the Cassava plant are unknown.

Originally used as a disrespectful term—which was largely related to the image of an unwashed, pierced, or tattooed person—it has in recent years been accepted by the Rock community as a defining term and is therefore no longer considered disrespectful when used to describe members of the Rock community.
