Youth Defense League was a New York Hardcore (NYHC) band formed in 1987. The band was featured in the Revelation Records compilation album New York City Hardcore, which featured fellow NYHC bands Sick Of It All and Gorilla Biscuits among others. Their political views are questionable, considering their highly patriotic stance in most of the songs they wrote, and the use of the number 88 in their song "Skinheads '88". Although the title could refer to the year 1988, it could also be code for "Heil Hitler", becase H is the eighth letter of the alphabet. Controversy surrounds them due to accounts and accusations of racism.
