"Your Body Is a Wonderland" is the second single released by John Mayer from his first album, 2001's Room for Squares. Its commercial success was greater than Mayer's prior single, "No Such Thing."[citation needed]

[edit] Song information
A popular misconception is that this song was inspired by his ex-girlfriend, the actress/singer Jennifer Love Hewitt, but this cannot be true as he wrote the song in 2000, and did not meet Hewitt until 2002.[citation needed]
[edit] Lyrics
The lyrics are sung by a young man to his girlfriend. He tells her about how he will spend the afternoon with her in bed exploring her body, and compares it to a wonderland. The simultaneous popularity and infamy of that lyric lead to Mayer often being called 'John "Your Body Is A Wonderland" Mayer'.
[edit] Track listing
All songs are written by John Mayer except where noted otherwise.
- "Your Body Is a Wonderland" - 4:09
- "No Such Thing" (acoustic version) (John Mayer & Clay Cook) – 3:51
- "Your Body Is a Wonderland" (acoustic version) - 4:09
- "Not Myself" (demo version) - 3:36
[edit] Reception
Billboard said the song showcases Mayer's "smooth, casual singing style and barroom instrumentation."[3] In 2003, "Your Body Is a Wonderland" won Mayer the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The song ranked at #28 on Blender magazine's list of the "50 Worst Songs Ever".[4]
[edit] Appearances in the media
In 2006, the song was used in an episode of U.S. version of The Office, entitled "A Benihana Christmas." Characters Michael Scott and Andy Bernard sing the song as a karaoke duet. Mayer agreed to let the show use the song, in exchange for a Dundie[5], which was for "Tallest Music Dude."
