Major Bob Collins (Cummings) and his friends Captain W. Anders (Don DeFore) and Lieutenant R. Janoschek (Charles Drake) are sent to tour the United States selling war bonds. They are chaperoned by I.V. Hotchkiss (Scott), who turns out to be a stern woman named Ivy. Bob and Ivy fall in love, but Bob has been diagnosed with terminal tuberculosis.
