[edit] POV

This page is clearly written by someone agreeing with the movement; this is visible by the repetition of "we". It is only suggestive of what is actually occurring. "Thanks to electronic/print media, we are getting very favorable response on this" - unsurprising, since media is usually biased against social change (media is, on its basest level, a corporation that needs to sustain itself), since in all societies, the mainstream media is run by the wealthy. This page should welcome more detachment, not the "all people thinking on this line to join our movement and expand the scope of this movement and take it beyond what is being written/projected in Indian Media (i.e. reservation in Institutes esp Medical PG courses)." (JoeBlogsDord 08:01, 25 May 2006 (UTC))

I've had to do several POV reverts to this article, and the rest of it reads like a half-assed advertisement for the organization... unfortunatly, every revert I have done was removed or changed by 203.200.99.67, someone who is obviously involved with the movement, as well as someone who has not read any of the Wikipedia tutorials... this article has not only POV issues, but needs wikification, grammar and spelling checks, lacks any kind of real citation, and is full of nothing more than bias and original research... Now, while I'm all for an organization like this having an article on Wikipedia, let's at least get someone who knows what they're doing to write it, instead of a kid who is obvously very involved in the organization, and refuses to follow Wikipedia guidelines... Also, I'm not sure the 4 different blogs, and a recruitment link need to be included...
Also, as a side note, that fist logo is a direct rip-off of 2600 Magazine's logo from one of their conventions, just with the letters removed from the fingers, and colors overlayed... I currently can't find a good copy of that image, but if you look about 1/3 of the way down the page here (random forum with logo image (small-logo.png)), you'll see it... the exact same artwork, just stolen and vandalized... - Adolphus79 12:23, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
I used to follow this article closely but today I got busy with editing the article on protests so could not find time to clean it up. I have removed all the "fancuft" and POV sections of the article adn removed the POV tag. If anyone vandalises the article, go ahead and slap test templates on their talk pages. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 13:20, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

This is about tag cleanup. As all of the tags are more than a year old, there is no current discussion relating to them, and there is a great deal of editing done since the tags were placed, or in some cases it's clear there is a consensus, they will be removed. This is not a judgement of content. If there is cause to re-tag, then that of course may be done, with the necessary posting of a discussion as to why, and what improvements could be made. Better yet, edit the article yourself with the improvements in place. This is only an effort to clean out old tags, and permit them to be updated with current issues if warranted.Jjdon (talk) 00:56, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Delete?

I don't think this article is deserving of a separate topic of its own. Whatever relevant points it has are already mentioned in Indian anti-reservation protests, 2006. Besides, this article is just one of many that the protestors have been creating on Wikipedia. Anyone else agree it should be deleted?--Bluerain 12:42, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

This article should not be deleted. Youth for Equality is a very notable organization in today's context. Ask anyone from India and they will tell that this organization single-handedly brought the whole medical infrastructure of India to a grinding halt by organizing protests. It satisfies all criteria of notability (its name appears on all major newspapers in India everyday) and hence this article should be kept. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 13:01, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
For better understanding, see this. All major newspapers have reported YfE for the past one month. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 13:03, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Its just a name that students have united under to protest the reservations. Its only a month old, and we don't know if the group continues after this issue of reservations is settled. As of now, this article only serves to list their views and ideas and stand on a current event on an online encyclopedia. Also, there should be a limit to the number of sub-topics that a current event (which is the 2006 Indian anti-reservation protests) should have. 'Youth for Equality' is well documented in that article - the Intro and Activities section is completely listed in there; the Formation section is just not too important neither too informative; so we don't really need this article. It would be fine to have an article on them, if they continue to exist (in reality and in the newspapers) after the reservation issue is settled, i.e. if its not a just a temporary organisation. In that case, we can always start this article again. On the other hand, if we don't delete this article now, we'll have to keep it in the future even if the organisation ceases to exist. --Bluerain 07:43, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

I prefer not to speculate. We can't delete the article now as it satisfies all criteria of inclusion. If the organization ceases to exist and becomes irrelevent in the long run, we can always {{prod}} it. Trimming is no big deal. Go ahead if you find something redundant or useless. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 09:31, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
The logo they are using is still a rip-off of 2600's, can we at least remove it? See comment in above section... - Adolphus79 04:25, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Is that a copyright violation? -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 06:42, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
I dunno... I think it should be... figured someone else reading would have agreed with me or corrected me by now... - Adolphus79 13:02, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
The logo is "officially" recognized by YfE. Hence unless it violates any copyright, there is no reason for it to be removed. Also, it does not violate the fair-use rationale. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 15:28, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What about near 100% reservation in Temples

Voices should be raised against that also. Vjdchauhan 21:58, 2 April 2007 (UTC).
