X-Mode, fully called X-Mode Project and also often written as x-mode (project), is an open-source web-service development kit implemented in PHP and C++. It is an enterprise-grade web development kit. This project is scheduled to apply GPL for x-mode Core and LGPL for x-mode library but yet fully copylefted by Juti Noppornpitak from Computer Science Club of the University of Waterloo.

The X-mode project is to provide a stable enterprise-grade web-service development kit compatible with most web browsers and operating systems.

X-mode project Yume updated in November 25, 2006 is less than 50% completed due to the workload of its developers. Some parts of this project are used or created as experimental samples or testings, used in research of Juti Noppornpitak, one of its creators.

The development of X-Mode started in 2003 by Juti Noppornpitak as a webmaster of Debsirin School, one of four schools in Jaturamitr group. In the early state of development, it is called Com2Net as an experiment about PHP and Solaris (UNIX). Its objectives are chronologically changed until 2006.
[edit] Packages in Software Development Kit
In general, X-mode is the a package of libraries, including binary for C++ faction. The default package of X-mode is categorized into 2 groups:
- Stable - These packages are including default package. But now all packages are under development.
- Testing/Unstable (or Planned)
- Core - the base system and system administrative tools, including UI library, API library etc.
- Monde - the file manager, formerly Com2Net project
- Kotonoha - the publishing framework whose characteristic is the combination of blog and wiki.
- XUDF - XML-based Universal Document File
- XCCE - Core Encryptographic Engine
- XCIE - Core Interactive Engine with AJAX
[edit] Release in January 7, 2007
The alpha release in January 2007 will include PHP4-compatible ready-to-use suite, consisting Core and Monde. However, this release is not yet contain the complete code of x-mode SDK.
