[edit] Image:Lifehouse-first-time.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Lifehouse-first-time.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. lincalinca 13:25, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
- Please dont change the tag until it's been resolved. The artwork you're provided is not the actual single artwork, it's been photoshopped with a picture recently released by the band. I'm retagging it. --lincalinca 11:24, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- To explain, a nomination for deletion occurs when something doesn't meet the criteria to be kept. The image is a rights reserved image which has been modified. That means there's copyright infringement. Fair use would be to use the actual single cover. Single covers are just wider than square. This image is vertical and has quite obviously been photoshopped by somebody at home. as the tag I initially placed on the image states:
- If this image is determined to be replaceable within one week from 19 May 2007 (26 May), the image may be deleted by any administrator. Do not remove this tag.
- The bolded emphasis is mine, but until the nomination has been reviewed by an administrator, all you can do is state your case on the image's talk page and if the administrator sees fit, the image may stay, but I don't believe that will happen as per my prior explanation and reasoning. One thing to bear in mind with uploading any images or media to wikipedia is to always incluse a {{Non-free media rationale}}. If the item you upload is noteable and falls under the fair use guidelines (and you complete the template correctly) then it's highly unlikely your image or media file will be removed. --lincalinca 11:32, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- A few things I should mention. First of all, please read WP:CIVILITY. I believe its content would be very useful to you in your wikipedia adventures, but possibly also in life in general. Secondly, the content used in iTunes is comprised of a combination of sources, including user contributed (generally from "reliable users"). I'm not an American user, so I have verified that as you said, this is the version used on iTunes, but as I said, it's possible that it's been user contributed. One of the other reasons I mention this is that the general sedign isn't in fitting with the album cover designs. I'm sorry if at any point I was harsh and that was directed at you. Just to point you in the direction of the album cover I refer to, have a look at the album page or here (though curously, best buy has a different cover design). At the moment, I'm checking with my sources at geffen to see what they have to say on the matter and will get them to get back to me and confirm (if it's real, they'll say so, otherwise they'll upload the real deal, but they're lazy so it could be a while coming). --lincalinca 06:11, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
