Yomo & Maulkie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yomo & Maulkie were a talented but little known hardcore rap duo. They were associated with the members of N.W.A. but had more in common with Public Enemy lyrically. Despite the N.W.A. association, Yomo & Maulkie were far from gangsta rap. The MCs both came out of L.A., where they signed with Eazy-E's Ruthless label in the early '90s. In 1991, Eazy served as executive producer on their debut album, 'Are U Xperienced?', which was distributed by Atlantic Records and took its name from Jimi Hendrix's famous debut album. Unfortunately, the album fell through the cracks, and commercial success continued to elude Yomo & Maulkie. Later Maulkie went on to become a member of Ice Cube protégés Da Lench Mob. It should be noted that the song "For the Love of Money" off of Are U Xperienced? was later, in 1994, reused for the Bone Thugs-n-Harmony single Foe tha Love of $ from the album Creepin on ah Come Up.
