Yoga Korunta
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Yoga Korunta is an ancient text of uncertain origins purportedly compiled by the sage Vamana Rishi. The codex is said to contain several lists of many different asana groupings, as well as highly original teachings on vinyasa, drishti, bandhas, mudras, and general teachings [1].The text is alleged to have been handed down orally to Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya by his teacher, Rama Mohan Brahmachari, in the early 1900's. Later the teaching is supposed to have been passed down to Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during the period of his study with Krishnamacharya at Mysore, beginning in 1927.
The text is said to be made up of stanzas using rhymed, metered sutras, in the manner common to orally transmitted texts throughout the Indian subcontinent.[citation needed]
