Talk:Yo Gabba Gabba!
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
i think something should be said about the old school music featured in the show with the shows use of Roland 808's,909's,303's, and other old synth/drum machines on everything. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.94.11.146 (talk) 16:57, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
is muno (and maybe plex) the only two characters based off of the aquabats?
its muno (cyclopsis) and brobee (weedy the broccoli bee) which can be seen in the universe part of www.theaquabats.com plex doesnt have any direct connection except for the fact that one of the aquabats stage name is Jimmy the ROBOT and plex is a robot

You're inquiring as to who it was? It was musician Leslie Hall.Skibz777 07:42, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Expanding the page and less Aquabatian POV
For a brand new show on a major network, there's a shocking lack of information on the page. Perhaps somebody, if not myself because I'm lazy, could possibly expand the page, adding sections such as the format of the show, how it came to be, critical response, etc., etc.. Just take an example from the other Nick Jr. show pages, all of which are astoundingly detailed.
I'm also aware that many of the editors of this page (myself included) are rabid, card-carrying Aquacadets, but that's no reason why the entire page has to be about The Aquabats!. There's no reason to constantly refer to Christian Jacobs as MCBC because, save for their guest appearance, the band itself has little to do with the show. It's "Yo Gabba Gabba!", not "The Aquabats! Show".Skibz777 04:31, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The 'Hipster Kid's Show
I had put a line in that this show seems aimed at younger 'hip' parents (known as Grups) and their kids and, thus, is something of a 'hipster kid's show.'
Consider this: The show features memeber of the Aquabats (an indie rock band). It features 'cool' guests like Biz Markee, Mark Mothersbaugh and The Shins (people little kids would have no idea who they are, while their 20-30 something parents would)
Also, the design of the characters were designed by pop-surrealist arist Tim Biskup. Look at some of his work here (http://www.startmobile.net/mstore/startinc.nsf/ArtistHome?OpenForm&Artist=Tim+Biskup). Lowbrow art screams 'Hipster' and Biskup is very hipster-friendly.
Not to mention that the title of this show is a reference to a Ramones song (Gabba Gabba Hey). Punk = Hipster.
This is not anything new, Sesame Street worked hard to include in-jokes and pop culture references that parents would understand, to make a kid's show entertaining to them. Yo Gabba Gabba seems to be following this model by catering the show to a new genration of young 'hipster' parents.
Here are some links to publications/websites which make a point of saying this show appeals to hipster parents.

[edit] Gay?
Um, what is the line doing there, right before reference [1], saying all the characters are gay? The reference, when examined, appears to be for the preceding line about the voice of Muno, and none of the references say anything about the characters' sexuality, so I have to assume the sentence in question is spurious vandalism and should be removed from the article. 24.116.151.23 03:29, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Aelswyth

[edit] Playhouse Disney?
Why do people keep adding that the show will be on Playhouse Disney? Last time that happened, I checked the TV schedules and there was no such airing. Searching yo gabba gabba playhouse disney in Google doesn't bring up anything related... Anyone want to shed some light on this? --Lyght (talk) 21:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
