It seems that this page is mostly a pull from the public-domain Jewish Encyclopedia. I'm not sure if it would be more proper to simply restate this information in a more wikipedia fashion or do a complete rewrite. Either way, I'm not qualified.

Well, it's horrible as it is, as it contains references to melody transcriptions which aren't here!
