Yezin University of Forestry is situated a few miles north and east of Pyinmana, Myanmar( formerly Burma). It is the only forestry university in Myanmar.It offers three types of academic programmes every year: Undergraduate course, Master course and Phd course. Formerly, only 50 applicants were selected for the undegraduate course among many applicants who had passed their high school examinations with higher marks.Since 2006, university entrance examination became compulsory and the annual intake was increased up to 100 students for the course. Old system undergraduate course needed 6 years to obtain a degree in bachelor of science in forestry (B.Sc. Forestry).Nowadays, it has been changed into a 5 years program. Apart from theoretical studies, every undergraduate students have to take part in every field training program which takes place about one month in every winter. After the completion of the undergraduate course, students are assigned as forestry officers at the Forest Department, the Dry Zone Greening Department and the Myanmar Timber Enterprise.
