Yerevan TV Tower is a 311.7 metre high lattice tower on Nork Hill in Yerevan, Armenia. It was built from 1974 to 1977 as a replacement for the old 180-meter high TV tower at Yerevan. Currently being the highest point in the city, it is one of the highest towers in the world.

Installation of the tower in 1977 allowed to receive wide variety of programs from the Moscow Central television, as well as from other Soviet Union republics. The average daily length of programs broadcasted by Armenian television reached twelve hours, of which two and a half hours in color, including four hours thirty five minutes of own programing. Ninety six percent of the population watched the first program. In 1978 it became possible to also receive the fourth channel of the Central television in Armenia[1]

By 1978 the number of TV sets reached five hundred thousand, of which hundred thousand were color. Armenian SSR was on the second place in the Soviet Union for the popularization of TV. The length of TV programs per day reached 19 hours. About fifty percent of the programs were in color and seventy percent were being recorded. Armenia became the first of the republics of the Soviet Union by the percent of the TV audience and the volume of programs[1]

The old tower was moved to Leninakan (current Gyumri), where it is still functional today.
