Yekaterina Guseva (Екатерина Гусева) (born July 9, 1976) is a Russian actress. Her mother Tamara Mikhailovna (Тамара Михайловна) works as a chief inspector in the administrative-technical Inspection of the City of Moscow. Her father Konstantin Vasilyevich (Константин Васильевич)works as artistic tailor, designer. In Kate's childhood, her father played on violin. It was his violin she was depicted with in the series "Brigada". Kate's younger sister works as a methodologist in the kindergarten, after finishing pedagogical and psychological institute.
Already as 4 years old, Katya was part of the modern gymnastics resource group for the Soviet Union's representation team. She also tried figure skating and swimming. Seven years before finishing school, Katya was involved in the Georgian dance ensemble Kolkhida (Колхида) and managed to perform in the Great Theatre (Большой театр).
Yekaterina gladly remembers the never-ending school summer breaks and campfires. She played in NABAT (Набат) theatre, established by the school principal.
At the 11th grade level, Katya moved on to the biotechnology institute. For a year, she studied hard. She was approached by Evgeniya Simonova (Евгения Рубеновича Симонова) who suggested she should apply for the V.V. Shukina Performing Arts College. She gave it a try and learnt minimums for the entry exam in three days. She made it with ease.
Her mother cried when she learnt Katya switched to performing arts. She did, though, appreciate Katya's talent once seeing the graduating piece Esop (Эзоп). Katya played a lot of roles during her study years but her favourite was the 80-year-old from a play by Maxim Gorkiy "The last ones".
Katya is married to Vladimir and they have a son Alexei.
