What's up with the name can we get an origin on that or something? 67.33.215.149 02:45, 28 September 2005 (UTC)
Why does this not mention anything about being the main town in My Dog Skip ?
This article could use a mention of "Yazoo Clay" http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-125916252.html
"Yazoo Clay is 28% smectite (probably montmorillonite), 24% kaolinite, 22% quartz, 15% calcite, 8% illite, 2% feldspar, and 1% gypsum." http://gsa.confex.com/gsa/2004AM/finalprogram/abstract_79476.htm
"The day I encountered Yazoo clay, it was sucking down the walls of my apartment building against the best efforts of workmen furiously installing supporting colums. In fact, as a result of this ubiquitous orange colored mud-like substance, few houses in Jackson boast a second story; the tallest building jiggles precariously at twenty floors. The Yazoo clay is a perpetual bane to engineers who construct highways only to discover large cracks and bumps in them where the earth has decided to pick up and head out of this godforsaken place. Jackson has none of that dependable granite stubbornness upon which Empire States are built; caught in a double bind, it is constantly fighting the ground on which it rests and is perpetually at risk of drowning in it." http://philae.sas.upenn.edu/music/alon/downtime/talya/jackson.html —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.59.104.219 (talk) 19:41:22, August 19, 2007 (UTC)
Yazoo City is a pretty uneventful town. We happened upon it on our travels and asked a few locals where was a nice restaurant to eat. The first one told us "Anywhere away from here!" The second laughed at us. We did find a place named Howell's, the help was wonderful the food was marginal. The main street consisted of older building like in old time main street would although there weren't businesses in hardly any of them. The courthouse and surrounding buildings reminded me of old southern style and a few of the surrounding streets had some historic homes. Definetly though not a must see as far as I am concerned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.197.114.22 (talk) 02:44, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
