Yann Raufaste aka Yaska (sculpteur)

Yaska was born in 1968 in Paris, son of French ex-patriots originally from Ariege in the region of Oust. He discovered equatorial Africa at the age of 4 and West Africa a few years later.

During his 19 year stay in Africa he learned several traditional techniques from local artisans in Gabon, Cameroon and later in Senegal and Nigeria (melting, sand moulding and lost wax). He often uses materials such as clay, wood, metal, concrete and stone in his models and sculptures.
