Yale is a lock manufacturer, owned by Assa Abloy. The company started in the mid 1800s. The inventor of the Pin tumbler lock, Linus Yale, Sr., started a business manufacturing locks in New York. Yale & Towne company was established in 1868. In the following century, the company expanded worldwide. It was bought by Assa Abloy in 2000. ^[1]
