Y D Phadke (य दि फडके) (3-January-1931 - 11-Jan-2008)
Historian, Writer and Activist who has written primarily in Marathi.
Phadke has written on wide range of historical events and personalities of Maharashtra from early 19th century onwards.
Most of his work remains untranslated and hence inaccessible to people who don't read Marathi.
He was the president of 73rd ABMSS (Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan) that was held in Belgaum in year 2000.
Phadke's approach to history has been classical- based on hard data, reliable evidence. In the process, he has busted many myths about Maharashtra's history since mid-19th century. In his writings, he lets facts speak to the readers and doesn't opinionate.
