[edit] Help Needed

Hello, I'm the creator of this page, Nicolas Nelson. I believe the Xtracycle deserves a wikipedia article, and hope to develop this article as if the company itself had gone out of business: I'm hoping this mental perspective will help the article sound more like an article and less like an advertisement, to satisfy Wikipedia's concerns on that count. I welcome ANY help and feedback in that vein.

The purpose of this article is to reveal historical and technical information not found elsewhere about the Xtracycle. To do this I will solicit the input of Xtracycle engineers and folks who participate on the Xtracycle community forums.

Another purpose of this article is to begin describing the "bicycle lifestyle"-- perhaps this part ought to have its own article page? It is a lot bigger than just Xtracycle. In many ways, the Xtracycle's success is riding a wave of interest that existed already. But the Xtracycle has also been a catalyst for many people, like myself, to go from uninterested to enthusiastic about adopting a bicycle lifestyle: I'd like to explore that aspect too. It's difficult to do that and not sound like I'm advertising the product. Again, feedback (especially negative) is welcome.

Full disclosure: I am a happy owner of a Free Radical and am backordered for a Stokemonkey from CleverChimp.com. I participate fairly regularly on the Xtracycle community forums under the name "parepidemos". I am not an employee of Xtracycle LLC and have never personally met either Ross Evans or Kipchoge Spencer. I have no connection with the Ginger Ninjas though I do like a few of their songs.

...uh oh, page tagged again. I clicked on the watchbox's link "wikify", and am sad to admit I'll need help. This article must not be "wikispam." Help me out, folks...

[edit] Heading off Speedy Deletion

I noticed this article was tagged for speedy deletion today. Because I think this subject matter has encyclopedic value (it turns out this type of bike does actually have enthusiasts), I have reorganized and rewritten the article. User:Nicolas Nelson, however, shouldn't have posted the original version without first learning what a Wikipedia article is supposed to look like. This article still needs work, but hopefully now it's off to a better start. =Axlq 04:30, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
