Topher "McTophington" Groberg Topher, born Christopher Douglas Groberg, was born in Roy Utah on August 10th, 1990, and has lived in Roy for the current duration of his life. From a young age, he was very involved in reading and music and has followed on those bentions in his life since.
Bands and Music Topher has been playing in bands since he got a bass guitar from his father for Christmas in 2004. His first band, Johnny's Uncle, was a metal/rock band from Farr West, Utah. Other members include Johnathan (guitar) and Marty (Drums). Having no internet identity and no original songs, they covered Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Guns N' Roses.
Angelic Dissonance The first real band Topher played and played bass in was Punk/Emo outfit Angelic Dissonance[[1]]. Jointed with guitarists Brad Gowers and sister Sarah Groberg along with Brad's cousin Megan on drums (although they had a revolving door of drummers beforehand), the band had ten original songs and were set to record an album before their break-up in 2005. They had not played a show, although they were booked for the Ernie Ball stage on the 2006 and 2007 Vans Warped Tour Utah dates. (The 2007 booking was an accident on the part of the Warped Tour as they hadn't learned of the bands 2006 break up at the time.) Their first show was set to be with In Train To London headlining at Midvale rock club The Circuit. In Trian To London's break-up halted that show. The band regrouped in early 2008 and is re-writing music and slowly reforming.
Bullets Kill A Dream
Slightly heavier, Hardcore/Deathmetal band Bullets Kill A Dream[[2]] moved Topher away from instruments and toward working on vocals. The band sites influences such as As I Lay Dying and has more musical prowess of Silverstein. The band has one recorded demo song and is working on more. Other band members are Steven and Riley on guitar, Chris (not Topher) on bass, and Danny on drums. The band has no shows as the members want to
"focus on crafting their sound" - Topher Groberg.
The Mystic Cabin Topher, almost joke like, began an essay about the fictional book "The Mysic Cabin." After it was joked around enough, serious ideas and constructive criticism, began writing the novel. Set to be finished by the end of 2008 and release in 2009, the story revolves around William, Sven, Josh, and Meg Halbert and Gabriel Faustus. The common themes are Bipolar syndrome, cancer, distrust, and Oedipus Complex.
Short Stories Before novels, Topher wrote many short stories. His greatest, and most favorite, is "The Collector." The story follows around a character in a not too distant future in which dead and mutilated bodies manifest themselves into peoples houses. The characters explorations reveal a company involved in collecting these bodies for money. His other main short story, Bolshoytoph, is a story set in the ancient lands of the Dark Ages. Many Russian words and characters are used, making the setting more Russian, although the words mean entirely different things from what the story says they mean. For instance, it says Bolshoytoph means ancient relic, where it actually means Big Toph. As well as a sign that reads Nie Liez' V Razietku (Not in the light socket) but the story says the sign means "Do Not Enter." Topher says the false translation is intentional, and an inside joke.
