XJACK
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In laptop computing, the XJACK is a type of connector to attach a standard RJ11 or RJ45 plug directly to a PC card modem/Ethernet adapter, without the use of a dongle. An XJACK extends from the card and the plug goes into the extended portion.
An XJACK is fragile, but somewhat less fragile than typical PC card dongles, it usually sticks out half an inch and is about the same thickness of the PC card
XJACK was originated by the Megahertz subsidiary of 3Com, but was subsequently made by other manufacturers as well.
3Com also makes Wi-Fi PC cards which have an extendable antenna, which they refer to as XJACK.
