As a scientist, I think it is important to have some seperation between my own ideas and my professional work. I want to contribute to wikipedia using the same standards as I do in my professional work. I think it is therefore a good idea to tell a little about my own Point of View on some things, so that other editors may know, and be on their guard against shortcomings in my editing behaviour which might accidently arise from errors in the view that I hold.

I'm not at all sure about it, and there may be many more explanations, but based on the evidence this is sort of my best hunch. A site I will not link to from wikipedia discusses four conspiracies:
ad 4: We humans suffer from logical fallacies so much, that our mental filters force us to strengthen certain falsehoods and to embrace certain lies. Unsuspecting, we are even more vulnarable to this. Suggested ways of escape are:
