[edit] BIOLOGY

EGG

Eggs are created inside the alien Queen and exit through a tube from her extended abdomen. Once ejected, they stand upright on their own. Alien eggs are approximately 2.5 feet tall with a leathery, translucent surface. Built to ensure procreation, they can survive for an indeterminate amount of time in various environments. The eggs are "intelligent," possessing an ability to detect the proximity of a potential host through sound and/or movement. Once a host has wandered into range, four petals on the top of the egg open and release the Facehugger.

Weaknesses: Extremely flammable.

FACEHUGGER

The Facehugger is the parasite inside the egg. When a host comes in close proximity to the egg, the parasite launches itself out with uncanny accuracy. On a rare miss, the parasite can chase the host to position itself for another launch. Once on the host, the facehugger uses its rubbery tail to squeeze the victim's neck and force him to gasp for air. Its eight spider-like digits wrap around the victim's head and secure its position. In a matter of seconds, the victim is quelled into a comatose state while the parasite forces a tube down his throat. During this phase, it's important that the host be kept alive. Wind bags on the sides of the facehugger pump oxygen through the tube while an embryo travels down into chest cavity. When the process is complete, the Facehugger releases itself from host's body and dies. The host soon regains consciousness with no recollection of the implantation process. The embryo develops quickly and upon maturity forces itself out of the host's chest. This causes an extremely painful and violent death for the host. The facehugger is designed to procreate. It wards off attacks with concentrated acid for blood and strangles the host with its tail if there is any attempt to remove it. It's skin has an outer layer of protein polysaccharides that allow it to shed its cells and replace them with polarized silicon. This gives it a stronger resistance to harsh environmental conditions. So far, no known species is resistant to the Facehugger. Known hosts have ranged from the alien in the derelict craft, humans, and a dog. It is believed that the alien Queen originates from a "Super Facehugger," which is a larger, faster, and a more heavily armored version of the parasite. Implantation Phase: Approximately 24 hours Gestation Phase: approximately 1-10 days.

Weaknesses: None known.

EMBRYO

Once deposited within the host's stomach, the infant begins rapid growth and DNA sampling through direct linkage with the surrounding tissues. A rigorous DNA polymerase is introduced into the bloodstream of the host to encourage system-wide genetic compliance. Once the genome has been analysed, the Foetus begins to adapt its own genome accordingly. The purpose is three-fold: To imbue itself with usful traits inherant to the host; to ascertain a picture of the host's weaknesses; and to alter the host's metabolism to accommodate the growth of the forming Alien.

CHESTBURSTER

The life of the mature alien begins with a dramatic and bloody entrance. It bursts out of the host's chest and kills them instantly. At this stage, the snake-like Chestburster has a small cranium, tan colored skin and can range from one to two feet tall. After birth, the Chestburster will either feed on the remains of the host or seek shelter if threatened. Like the eggs, Chestbursters can vary in appearance. The Nostromo Chestburster emerged with arms but the one on LV-426 did not. On Fiorina 161 both arms and legs had developed as well as a noticeable inner jaw or tongue. There are a couple of speculations, that the alien actually inherits some genetic traits from the host as it develops, or because of varying periods of gestation it is born at different levels of maturity. Incubation time also seems to vary. Kane, the victim from the Nostromo, had an incubation period of a few hours, while the Queen embryo in Ripley matured over several days. It is believed that a Queen embryo will wait several weeks before emerging, thus allowing the host to travel and spread hives over a larger area.

WARRIOR

</gallery>

The Warrior is the most terrifying stage of the creatures lifecycle, growing within hours to a beast some seven to eight feet in height. Sharing the Facehugger's acid blood and imbued with impossible strength, the Alien Warrior is ideally suited to quick and effective attacks having assimilated and surpassed the genetic traits of its host. Amongst its natural armoury of sharp claws, teeth and a prehensile tail, the creature possesses a retractable fanged tongue which becomes turgid enough to be forced through solid bone.

QUEEN

The mother of the hive, she directs its operation and is the only reproductive female. She oversees everything from hive construction to the location of suitable hosts. It is believed that she communicates her will through the secretion of pheromones or an empathic link. She has a higher intelligence level than the Soldiers and Drones. The Queen is born in a similar way to the Soldier alien. However, due to her more complicated structure her incubation period is longer -- several days instead of several hours. The Queen's cranium is larger and flatter and she stands approximately two to three feet taller than the Soldier aliens. Queens create and lay eggs through the use of her extended abdomen and can survive for an undetermined amount of time without it. She has four arms instead of two.

[edit] Locations

[edit] LV-426 (Acheron)

A harsh and uninhabitable planet located approximately 10-11months from Earth, just past the border of the Outer Rim. The Nostromo and its crew are rerouted to Acheron to investigate the source of an intercepted transmission from the planet's surface. The Nostromo lands on the rocky terrain, damaging several vital systems in the process, and repairs are conducted by Parker and Brett while Captain Dallas, Kane, and Lambert travel on foot to the source of the transmission - a strange derelict alien craft. The search party are forced to wear compression suits due to the unbreathable atmosphere of the planet, high in concentration of many foreign gasses. High winds and frequent storms make planet even more uninviting.

57 years later a colony, which houses 50-60 families, abruptly loses contact with Earth after receiving orders to investigate a strange set of coordinates. Subsequently, a platoon of United States Colonial Marines, along with Ripley acting as an advisor, and a Weyland-Yutani company representative, Carter Burke, are sent to investigate the situation. After landing, it is quickly discovered that all colonists are missing. A search of the complex reveals a young girl named Newt, the only survivor of a battle between the colonists and a horde of aliens.

[edit] Thedus

Thedus is located approximately 15 months from Earth, well beyond the Outer Rim. Although distant, the planet offers a rich deposit of mineral ore which is mined, collected, and transported back to Earth via massive starfreighters. It is then processed and sold. Weyland-Yutani is one of the leading corporations in the interstellar commerce and trade scene, and frequently send freighters into deep space to locations such as Thedus. The Weyland-Yutani ship, the Nostromo, is traveling back to Earth after collecting a load of mineral ore from Thedus when it intercepts a strange alien signal from a nearby planet - Acheron. The crew is awakened and sent to investigate under penalty of forfiture of all shares and bonuses for noncompliance with company regulations regarding such situations.

[edit] Outer Rim

The Outer Rim itself is a designated boundary in space where human's have yet to colonize and populate in any great number. It lies between the Core Systems and the Galactic Rim. Most planets and/or mineable asteroids are approximately one to two years from the Sol System (Earth), necessitating the need for cryotubes for the crew of deep space mining and transport vessels.

[edit] Earth

When the crew of the Nostromo are awakened by the ship's computer, Mother, due to a transmission of unknown origin from a nearby planet, Lambert initially has difficulty finding Earth on the starcharts. Eventually she determines home is still a distant 10 months away for their current position - several months beyond the border of the Outer Rim, near a planet called Acheron. Meanwhile, orders from Earth are arriving without the knowledge of the crew - except for Ash. Ash receives Special Order 937 from Weyland-Yutani offices on Earth: Nostromo rerouted to new coordinates. Investigate life form. Gather specimen. Priority One. Insure return of organism for analysis. All other considerations secondary. Crew expendable. When Ripley and Jones are found by the deep space salvage team drifting in the Narcissus 57 years after they escaped the Nostromo, they are taken back to Gateway Station, a space station orbiting above Earth. Ripley, however, does not return to Earth, but stays on Gateway to live and work as a powerloader operator in the station's docks and hanger bays.

[edit] Gateway Station

After Ripley and Jones are discovered in the Narcissus by the deep salvage team, they are taken to Gateway Station, which orbits Earth, in order to recover. There, Ripley is nursed back to health, but not without being plagued with horrible nightmares about her encounter with the xenomorph on the Nostromo. It is here Ripley is first introduced to Burke, and asked to join the mission to LV-426.

[edit] Fiorina (Fury) 161

The emergency escape vehicle from the Sulaco landed near a Weyland-Yutani maximum security work prison on a planet called Fiorina 161. Fiorina, nicknamed Fury 161, was a harsh planet with cruel weather systems and temperatures that often dropped below -40oC at night. Due to the planet's lice infestation the staff and inmates of the work prison facility where forced to shave their heads for personal hygiene. Aside from the abundance of lice, the planet also had an abundance of mineral ore, which was processed at the work prison by the inmates, then shipped back to Earth. In the late 22nd century Weyland-Yutani decided to shutdown the prison, however 22 inmates decided to remain as custodial staff, operating the leadworks and refinery. Three staff also remained to warden the prisoners. After the xenomorph killed all but 1 prisoner and staff, and Ripley committed suicide, Weyland-Yutani decided to close the facility and sell any remaining refinery equipment and ore as scrap.

[edit] Hadleys Hope

Established on Acheron (LV-426) in the mid 22nd century, the purpose of the Hadleys Hope colony was to construct and operate massive atmosphere processors that would make the air breathable and provide stable weather systems. The process (sometimes called a "shake-and-bake" colony) would take decades to complete. Once established the colonists remained as settlers and miners of any deposits found and claimed.

After the Weyland-Yutani representative, Carter Burke, ordered the coordinates of the derelict alien spacecraft investigated all communication was lost with the colony. United States Colonial Marines where sent to investigate and rescue any survivors. All colonists, save a young girl, where killed from an infestation of xenomorph aliens triggered when colonists stumble upon the eggs in the cargo hold of the derelict.

Due to weapons fire in close proximity to the atmosphere processor's cooling towers in the sublevels, the reactors hit critical mass, which resulted in a massive nuclear explosion, destroying the colony entirely. The young colonist girl, Rebecca Jorden, also known as Newt, along with Ellen Ripley, USCM Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and an android by the name of Bishop escaped the planet alive.

[edit] Vehicles

[edit] Derelict

Upon landing on Acheron, the crew of the Nostromo discover that the source of the alien transmission is a beacon inside an ancient derelict spacecraft. Dallas, Kane, and Lambert set out in compression suits to investigate. After traversing the harsh alien landscape, the trio discover the immense, and ominous, structure. Inside, they find a fossilized skeleton, come to be known as the "Space Jockey". The jockey is an enormous lifeform, long dead, and undisturbed. Evidence of it's cause of death are apparent - something exploded out of it's chest!

After further investigation, an opening to a lower level is discovered. Kane is lowered with a winch into a massive underground cavern, littered with alien eggs, covered by a blue mist. Kane makes his way to one of the eggs, causing it to open. As Kane peeks inside, the facehugger organism attacks, burning through Kane's faceplate, and immobilizing him. Dallas and Lambert retrieve his unconscious body and return him to the Nostromo.

[edit] Nostromo

The Nostromo is a commercial towing vehicle used to tug massive starfreighters from port to port. It's design is modified from a Lockmart CM-88B Bison Transporter powered with a Laretel WF-15 fusion reactor. The ship's mainframe "Mother" keeps the ship and crew tied to Earth, and Weyland-Yutani, by monitoring and directing all incoming and outgoing communications. The Nostromo can detach from the starfreighter it is towing for atmospheric re-entry. The Nostromo is also equipped with a two crew capacity lifeboat - the Narcisuss. Ripley is forced to destroy the Nostromo when most of the crew is killed by the alien. She sets the self destruct system, which in turn overheats the ships massive engines, causing a huge explosion.

[edit] Narcissus

The Narcissus is a small lifeboat used in a situation that would require the crew to abandon ship. With only a cryotube capacity of two, it's definitely a last resort for an escape plan. Ripley, Parker, and Lambert decided to take their chances in the Narcissus, as opposed to taking their chances on the Nostromo with the alien. Ripley finds Jones while Paker and Lambert gather oxygen for the cyrotubes, but the alien kills Parker and Lambert before they can get back to the lifeboat. Ripley then takes Jones and escapes the Nostromo just in time before the engines explode. She isn't out of danger yet, though - the alien has stowed away on the Narcissus, and Ripley is forced to jetison it out the air lock and destroy it with the ship's thrusters.

[edit] Starfreighter

The massive starfreighter is used to transport mineral ore and oil from various destinations back to Earth. The Nostromo is returning with the freighter from Thedus with 20 million tons of mineral ore before stopping to investigate the alien transmission detected from Acheron.

[edit] Armored Personnel Carrier

The armored personnel carrier transported the platoon from the landing site to the main complex of the Hadley's Hope colony. There Lt. Gorman, Ripley, Burke and Bishop waited while the marines secued the entrance to the colony before moving in. The APC was insurmental in the extraction of the marines from the atmosphere processor. It was later destroyed in the dropship crash.

[edit] Powerloader

The powerloader was used to move equipment, supplies, and weaponry during the dropship prep, and later used by Ripley to battle the queen alien.

It has become an integral part of most dockyards and cargo bays with its bipedal frame allowing greater access to cargo storage areas as well as more accurate and safer placement of cargo modules. Powerloaders are a recent innovation, designed to transport cargo across terrain other cargo handlers could not. The P-5000, currently in service aboard all marine spacecraft, provides ability to handle cargo pods and missiles with ease and has increased the efficiency of marine teams in pre-drop preparation.

[edit] Sulaco

The Sulaco is a Conestoga class starship, thirteenth of its class, originally designed as a troop and logistics transport. By 2179 in the Alien-universe, these ships had been converted into a rapid-response military transport, with orbital bombardment and fleet support capabilities.

Unit badge of the USS Sulaco Colonial Marines complementThe Sulaco masses 78,000 metric tons and can carry an additional 20,000 tons of cargo. It measures 385 meters (1,260 ft) in length. As a troop carrier, the Sulaco carries two UD4L Cheyenne dropships in the film (though it is capable of holding eight) and has sufficient life support capabilities for 90 crew and passengers to be supported indefinitely. In an emergency, as many as 2,000 troops can be placed in hibernation in the main cargo hangars for a maximum four days. Colonial Marines stationed on the ship each receive a small locker for uniforms and personal paraphenilia, while Officers are granted larger lockers for their personal items. No actual crew is needed —- the ship is fully automated and can sustain and defend itself with the use of an advanced Artificial Intelligence computer. An android (Bishop in this case) accompanies most missions to monitor the computer and life support systems.

It is powered by a Westingland A-59 3.6 terawatt fusion reactor using high density lithium hydride for fuel. The high density of the lithium hydride provides the ship with one whole year of power with only 900 cubic meters of fuel. The reactor itself is protected by armor and in an emergency, the reactor can vent pressure and eject dangerous liquids safely into space, preventing damage of the ship itself. It has a regular acceleration of 0.5g (5 m/s²) and can go a maximum acceleration of one g, but will burn 16 times as much fuel if it operates at this speed. Sublight propulsion is provided by four GF-2400 rocket motors using industrial carbon-diamond as reaction mass. Faster-than-light propulsion is provided by a hyperdrive tachyon shunt, with a maximum speed of 0.74 light year per sidereal day. The ship is designed to operate in space only — if it enters an atmosphere with any type of gravity, it will not be able to sustain any acceleration and crash. The Sulaco's hull panels are constructed from radar absorbing material, which reduces the ship's radar cross section to low levels. It is painted dark grey to keep the ship from being seen by the naked eye.

After the Sulaco launched the cryotubes with Ripley, Hicks, Newt and Bishop, it is unknown what happened with the ship afterwards.

[edit] USM Auriga

Commanded by General Perez, the USM Auriga was home to the xenomorph/human cloning and breeding project headed by Dr. Wren. The ship contained laboratories, observation rooms, xenomorph holding chambers, gymnasium, armory, mess hall, living quarters, flight deck and a large waste tank which, once the aliens escaped, was converted into a hive for the queen. The highly advanced ship, equipped with a stealthrun system, could travel at speeds exceeding 3,877,066,666 Km/h. In orbit over Pluto the ship's science team conducted their experiments in an attempt to clone Ellen Ripley from her DNA obtained at Fiorina 161 where she died over 200 years previously. On the eighth try the team successfully cloned Ripley and the queen embryo she was carrying. The Auriga then docked with the Betty, an small smuggler's ship, to receive a shipment of stolen cryotubes so the people inside could be used as hosts for more xenomorphs. When the creatures begin to escape most of the military personnel escape using small emergency lifeboats, however some of the soldiers and most of the science staff are left behind, along with the crew of the Betty. Call, an advanced android and member of the Betty's crew, interfaces with the Auriga's mainframe, Father, and sets a collision course with Earth in order to kill all the aliens onboard. Ripley and Call, along with two other mercenaries - Johner and Vriess - manage to escape as the Auriga crashes into Earth.

[edit] Betty

The Betty, captained by Frank Elgyn and piloted by Sabra Hillard, was contracted by General Perez to hijack a shipment of cryotubes and deliver them to the USM Auriga in order to provide hosts for the xenomorph breeding experiments being conducted there. Unknowing the full details of the contract, Elgyn and his crew dock with the Auriga and deliver their cargo. They then stay onboard to enjoy a few days on the massive military ship. When the aliens begin to escape the crew of the Betty head back for their ship, setting the Auriga on a collison course with Earth. Only Ripley, Call, Johner and Vriess make it to the Betty and off the Auriga alive.

[edit] Organisations

[edit] Weyland-Yutani

Formerly two separate companies (Weyland and Yutani) this large American/Japanese corporation's staple business is interplanetary trade and transport. The Nostromo itself is a Weyland-Yutani starcraft hauling 10 million tonnes of mineral ore back to Earth. Weyland-Yutani also has interests in military research and development, and become quite interested in the alien creature found on Acheron for their bio-weapons division. A devious company to work for, Weyland-Yutani deemed the crew of the Nostromo expendable to ensure safe return of an alien specimen for study.

Ash, a company android, oversaw the company plans for the creature onboard the Nostormo and died trying to bring a specimen back safely. All data entered into Mother is sent back to the company and all communications from the company are filtered through Mother. It is the Weyland-Yutani company policy that requires the crew of the Nostromo to set down on Acheron initially. All signs of intelligent life must be investigated or the crew must suffer forfieture of all shares. A good policy if you are the company.

57 years later they get another chance back on LV-426. This time Carter Burke is sent to ensure the safe return of a specimen, which could mean millions for the bio-weapons division, and a small fortune for Burke himself. It is Burke who orders the colonists to investigate the derelict without a warning of what might be there. Later Burke attempts to impregnate Ripley and Newt in order to get a specimen back to Earth, and the company, but fails when the marines kill the facehuggers. It seems the company will stop at nothing to gain a live specimen of this species.

[edit] United States Colonial Marine Corps

The United States Colonial Marine Corps is the interstellar military body responsible for protection of all Earth space and colonies. Platoons of United States Colonial Marines, the USCMC fighting force, stand on patrol throughout the galaxy with the latest state-of-the-art spacecraft, vehicles, equipment and weaponry. Large troop carriers, such as the USS Sulaco, transport the marines from star system to star system, while the "grunts" hibernate in their cryotubes. Each Conestoga class starship is equipped with two UD-4L Cheyenne Dropships, used for landing troops on a planet's surface, as well as air-to-air, and air-to-ground combat; two armored personnel carriers, and a vast array of personal weaponry. Most platoons comprised of a commanding officer, such as a captain or lieutenant, with two squads (generally A and B squads) commanded by a sergeant or corporal. As well, sending an android on all missions is standard USCM policy.

[edit] Interstellar Commerce Commission

The Interstellar Commerce Commission (ICC) is the governing body over all space-based commerce for Earth, and Earth controlled colonies. Pilots and crew of all transports and cargo ships are required to hold a current and valid ICC license in order to legally transport and trade goods between planets/colonies. The ICC can impound any goods, including the quarantine of foreign florae or fauna, bound for Earth due to contamination hazards, or if ICC standards are not met. Burke intended to impregnate Ripley and Newt with xenomorph embryos in order to smuggle them past ICC quarantine, and transport them back to Earth to be analyzed by the Weyland-Yutani bio-weapons division.

[edit] Characters

[edit] Ripley

The Nostromo's sole survivor, Lieutenant Ripley, tries to keep Kane, Dallas, and Lambert off the ship while Kane is incapacitated by the facehugger. Obeying company orders, Ash opens the airlock and lets them in. Ripley's suspicions of Ash are confirmed after communicating with Mother and discovering that the crew has been deemed expendable to ensure safe return of an alien specimen. She decides to go ahead with Lambert's suggestion to destroy the ship and escape in the Narcissus. Ripley's final battle with the alien is aboard the lifeboat when she blows the creature out of the airlock and destroys it with the ship's thrusters.

57 years later, Ripley is found drifting through space in her cryotube, in the Narcissus, 57 years after escaping the creature on the Nostromo. Ultimately, she is blamed for it's destruction by Weyland-Yutani. In order to escape the memories of the first encounter, and to be granted flight status again, Ripley must accompany a United States Colonial Marine mission to LV-426 to determine the cause of the communication loss with the colony there. Ripley's official role is as an advisor, but becomes much more involved when the mission fails terribly, and the marines must try to rescue themselves instead of the colonists. Ripley befriends a small orphan girl, Newt, who's family has been killed by the aliens and must ultimately rescue her from the alien horde, equipping herself with the latest state-of-the-art marine firepower. Newt, Ripley, Hicks and Bishop are the only survivors to reach the Sulaco and escape the planet.

During the return to Earth onboard the USS Sulaco the cryotubes of Ripley, Hicks, Newt and the android Bishop are moved to an emergency escape vehicle and ejected into space. Ripley remains as the only survivor after a crash landing on a nearby prison planet called Fury 161. She is given medical treatment and questioned about the happenings on the Sulaco. Ripley lies about what happened and demands an autopsy be performed on Newt to ensure she has no contaminants - in reality wanting to prove Newt isn't carrying an alien embryo. Once satisfied, the bodies of Hicks and Newt are cremated and Bishop's remains discarded. When inmates start to die suspiciously she salvages Bishop and discovers an alien made the trip with them to the planet and is currently hunting them down. After feeling ill Ripley takes a bioscan of herself and discovers she has been impregnated with an alien queen embryo. She now knows she must kill herself to stop the creature from gestating. She strikes a deal with one of the inmates, Dillon, to have him kill her once the alien itself is dealt with. However, Dillon is killed while trying to trap the creature in the lead mold where molten lead is poured on it. After the alien is killed, Ripley eludes the grasp of a Weyland-Yutani task force sent to capture her and retrieve the alien embryo she is carrying, by plunging herself into the burning lead furnace below. She and the alien are killed.

200 years later, For the purposes of obtaining a xenomorph queen embryo, scientists onboard the military starship USM Auriga cloned Lt. Ellen Ripley 200 years after she died on Fury 161. From DNA recovered there the scientists made seven failed attempts, finally succeeding with Ripley8. The queen embryo was surgically removed and allowed to gestate and grow. Against his best judgment General Perez, commander of military operations on the Auriga, allowed Ripley8 to live after the procedure and kept her in a cage, similar to those the aliens were kept in. With DNA from both a human and a xenomorph Ripley had to sort out her memories, emotions and instincts and rediscover who she was. She also quickly realized she had some kind of empathic or mental link to the aliens onboard the Auriga. It was also noted by the science staff that Ripley suffered from a mild type of cognitive and emotional disability making her prone to violent outbursts - possibly a side effect of the xenomorph characteristics she held. Another side effect no one counted on was superhuman strength, speed and agility she now possessed, again, making her difficult to control. However, Ripley8 still maintained much of what made up Ellen Ripley - caring, compassion and strong will. When Callsnuck into Ripley's cell in an attempt to killer the queen embryo Ripley, fearing for Call's safety, reasoned with her and tried to talk her out of killing the queen. When Callwas caught and charged with terrorism, Ripley managed to escape her cell to seek out the others. She saved the crew of the Betty by killing an alien that had cornered them gaining the trust of Christieand many of the others - except for Call, and Johner, who trusted no one by Christie. Ripley joined the group as they traveled across the Auriga back to the Betty in order to escape. On the way Callsaw Ripley's true self when she broke down emotionally after they stumbled across the seven failed cloning attempts in a laboratory. Ripley lead the group through the flooded kitchen to the computer interface, Father, for the Auriga where Callset a collision course with Earth. On the way to the Betty Ripley was captured by several aliens and taken to the hive where she discovered another hideous alien mutation - the newborn . While the newborn fought and killed the Queen, Ripley escaped the hive and managed to reach the Betty which flew out of the Auriga's docking bay and watched the ship crAsh into Earth. However, after the crAsh, her mental link to the aliens remained and Ripley soon realized the newborn had stole away on the Betty. In the cargo hold she found Calltrying to escape the newborn so Ripley intentionally cut herself, allowing her own acid blood to burn through the ships hull, where the creature was sucked out into space. Finally, it seemed, she was free of the curse of the aliens that had haunted her for more than 250 years. Home on Earth, she would need to find a way to fit into society neither truly human, nor truly alien.

[edit] Dallas

Dallas, as Captain of the Nostromo, had to make the decision to support Mother's message to investigate the source of the alien transmission. Failure to do so would have resulted in total forfeiture of shares for the entire crew. And, once the Nostromo landed on Acheron, he, Lambert, and Kane made the walk to the derelict spacecraft in an attempt to find the origin of the signal.

Lambert and Dallas lower Kane into the depths of the ship, and, once Kane was attacked, were forced to bring him back up unconscious and carry him back to the Nostromo.

Once aboard the ship, after Kane and Brett are killed, Dallas decided they would use the motion tracker Ash designed to find the alien in the labyrinth of the ship's air ducts. Dallas then volunteered to be the first to go into the air ducts to hunt the creature with a makeshift flamethrower Parker built.

Ripley, and the rest of the crew, use headset radios to direct Dallas as to the whereabouts of the alien. It's signal is tracked right to Dallas's position, and, in a desperate attempt to escape, Dallas is killed as he descends to a lower level and meets the creature face-to-face. His body, or any sign of it, is never found.

[edit] Ash

Ash, the ship's science officer, is actually a Weyland-Yutani android (Hyperdyne System 120-A/2) who knows the real motives for investigating the source of the alien transmission. He is ordered to ensure safe return of an alien specimen for the company's bio-weapons division. All other considerations are secondary. Crew expendable.

It is Ash who breaks procedure and allows Kane back onboard after he is attacked by the facehugger in the derelict spacecraft. Ripley later scolds Ash for his breach of medical procedure and reminds him that, when Dallas and Kane are off the ship, she is the ranking officer. When the facehugger dies, Ash keeps it for examination and safe return to company labs. After Brett is killed, while looking for Jones, Ash rigs a primitive, yet effective, motion tracker to help locate and flush out the alien.

The plan fails when Dallas is killed hunting the alien in the ventilation shafts. Ash soon becomes fascinated by the biology, and unmatched hostile instincts, of the creature, and, following company orders to protect the creature, attacks Ripley when she seeks out her own answers from Mother. Parker finds Ash smothering Ripley and cleaves his head off with a fire extinguisher, revealing the android circuitry beneath.

Parker temporarily revives Ash in an attempt to get answers, and to find a way to kill the alien. In his dismembered state Ash still finds time to admire the creature, failing to provide any real help. Frustrated, Parker disconnects Ash and incinerates him with his flamethrower.

[edit] Kane

Kane, along with Dallas and Lambert, investigate the source of the alien transmission on Acheron. Inside the derelict spacecraft Kane stumbles across egg-like structures and is attacked by an organism that attaches itself to his face. Back on board the Nostromo, attempts to remove the organism fail. Later it seemes to come off and die by itself. Later during dinner, Kane goes into convulsions, the organism having laid something inside his chest. A larger alien creature burst sout of Kane's chest killing him instantly. The creature then escapes into the depths of the ship.

[edit] Brett

As the engineers, Brett and Parker oversee the repairs and maintenance of the Nostromo. Brett, a heavy smoker, follows everything Parker says with his trademark 'right'.

When the Nostromo suffers heavy damage landing on Acheron, Brett and Parker spend most of their time in engineering in an attempt to get the ship back into space. While Dallas, Kane and Lambert are off the ship, Ripley pushes Parker to get the job done faster. Parker and Brett decide that since their job is so important to the crew, they should get a larger portion of the shares. Ripley doesn't go for it.

Later, after Kane is killed, Brett riggs an electric prod to be used to hunt down the alien, who the crew believe is still the size of the chestburster. Brett is teamed up with Parker and Ripley to track down the alien with a net and the electric prod. They stumble across Jones, the cat, and Brett allows him to get away. Parker scolds Brett and send him to find Jones so the cat doesn't show up on the motion tracker again. While looking for Jones, Brett is killed by the, now over seven foot tall, alien. Parker and Ripley see the creature pull Brett up into the ventilation ducts, which it was using to travel throughout the ship.

[edit] Lambert

Lambert was one of the three crew members to search for the source of the alien transmission on LV-426. After Captain Dallas is killed hunting the alien in the ventilation shafts, Lambert suggests to destroy the ship and use the escape pod Narcissus to flee the ship. Lambert is killed with Parker while gathering oxygen for the Narcissus's cryotubes.

[edit] Parker

Parker and Brett are only interested in money, and ensuring they get their fair amount of shares for any work they do. Parker prepares the flamethrowers used to hunt down the alien and agrees with Ripley and Lambert's decision to destroy the ship, and use the Narcissus to escape. He is killed with Lambert while collecting oxygen for the shuttle.

[edit] Bishop

It is "standard practice" to have an android on each USCMC mission, and Bishop is assigned to the platoon sent to LV-426. His official role is science officer, but he is also a capable APC and UD-4L Cheyenne Dropship pilot, as well as an excellent computer operator. Bishop conducts examinations of the dead facehuggers found in Medical, and later must take a portable terminal to the colony dish to patch into the Sulaco, and retrieve the second dropship. When he pilots the dropship from the planet back to the Sulaco, the queen stabs her tail through his chest, then tears him in half, leaving him seriously damaged for the voyage home.

The head and torso of Bishop was severely damaged during the EEV crash landing on the surface of Fury 161. Ripley searched through the garbage heap where he was discarded and hooked him up to the data recorder from the EEV. She wanted to know if there had been aliens onboard the Sulaco after they entered cryosleep, and did one come down with them to the surface. Bishop answered, yes. Then, at the request of Bishop, Ripley deactivated him permenantly. He had said he could be re-worked, but he would never be the same, so he'd rather be nothing.

[edit] Apone

Apone, the platoons' second in command, is a born leader and respected by all of his troops, his orders carried out without question. Apone is responsible for taking the troops into battle and reporting back to Lt. Gorman during the mission to LV-426. While the marines are heading into the alien hive inside the atmosphere processor, Dietrich finds a live woman, cocooned, and inpregnated with an embryo. The chestburster hatches and Apone kills it with a flamethrower. Unfortunately this wakes the docile aliens in the area, and the marines are attacked. Apone's transmission is lost when he is either killed or taken for cocooning by the aliens.

[edit] Hicks

Hicks is a seasoned combat veteran who stays cool under pressure. Dependable and resourceful, Hicks is a valuable asset to the USCMC platoon, and assumes command of the mission after Gorman is rendered unconscious and Apone is killed. Hicks supports Ripley's suggestion of blasting the site from orbit with a nuclear warhead, but after the dropship is destroyed, Hicks orders the survivors into operations where they fortify their defense to wait out the 17 days until rescue. He is later sprayed with acid from firing on a xenomorph at close range while he and Ripley were escaping. Ripley helps him to the second dropship where Bishop attends to his wounds. He is one of the four survivors of the mission to LV-426.

Not long after the misiion on LV-426 Hicks died while in cryosleep during the return trip to Earth. A fire onboard the Sulaco caused by the alien's acid blood triggered the emergency escape procedures. The cryotubes for himself, Ripley, Newt and Bishop were moved to an Emergency Escape Vehicle (EEV) which detached from the Sulaco and drifted to Fury 161 below. On impact one of the steel girder above Hicks' cryotube collapsed, killing him instantly. Newt was also killed when she drowned in her cryotube and Bishop was destroyed beyond repair. Ripley was the only remaining survivor.

[edit] Hudson

Hudson, close to the end of his tour of duty, is a cocky solider who seems to crack during periods of great stress. However, when push comes to shove, Hudson will fearlessly go into combat to fight with his fellow marines. Hudson even brags that he is the "ultimate badass" during the drop to LV-426 (Aliens: Special Edition only). During the retreat from operations Hudson is dragged under the floor by an alien, and either killed or cocooned.

[edit] Burke

Burke is the company representative sent with the mission to LV-426 and tries to ensure xenomorph specimens are gathered. However, Burke's plan is discovered with a failed attempt to impregnate Ripley and Newt with embryos. The marines decided to kill him, but the aliens cut the power and attack Operations before they can carry out the execution. Burke tries to save his own life by locking the exit from Operations, and trapping the marines inside, but he walks right into a xenomorph waiting for him in the next room. It was Burke who originally sent the colonists to investigate the derelict spacecraft. He didn't warn them of the potential dangers as he wanted to keep the Interstellar Commerce Commission out of the loop, and have exclusive rights to anything discovered.

[edit] Newt

Newt's family is killed during the alien infestation of the colony, but she survives by hiding in the air shafts located throughout the complex. The marines find her after the initial sweep of the complex, and at first she is hesitant to trust Ripley or the marines, but soon she and Ripley become quite close. After she, Ripley, and Hicks escape Operations through an air vent, Newt falls down another shaft and ends up under the complex. The aliens take Newt and cocoon her to be a host. Ripley equipes herself with a Pulse Rifle and flamethrower and rescues Newt from the hive, but not before meeting the queen face-to-face! Her real name is Rebecca Jordan.

After Newt escaped her home on LV-426 with Ripley, Hicks and Bishop onboard the Sulaco. During the trip back to Earth a fire was started by a facehugger loose on the ship. Their cryotubes were ejected in an EEV and launched into space where it crash landed on Fury 161. Newt was killed when water seeped into her cryotube and she drowned in her sleep. Although devastated by the deaths of Newt and Hicks, Ripley demanded an autopsy be performed as she wanted to ensure Newt hadn't been impregnated with an alien embryo. After it was determined Newt had certainly drowned her body, along with Hicks', were cremated in the lead furnaces of the prison leadworks.

[edit] Vasquez

Vasquez was serving a life sentence in juvenile prison when she was recruited by the USCMC, as was her good friend, and fellow Smart Gunner, Drake. She's tough and backs down from nothing and nobody, making her someone that can be counted on in the clutch. Ultimately it is Vasquez and Drake that cause the atmosphere processor explosion when, after being ordered to use flamethrowers only, she reloads her Smart Gunand and provides Drake with a battery pack to do the same. Vasquez and Drake then cover the platoons retreat from the atmosphere processor with their Smart Guns, but at the same time rupture the coolant units leading to the thermonuclear explosion. Vasquez is later killed with Gorman when they commit suicide with an M40 Grenade, after being trapped in an air duct by the aliens.

[edit] Gorman

Gorman was the commanding officer of the platoon sent to investigate the communication loss with LV-426. Youth and inexperience played a large role in his poor decisions and inactions. Injured in the retreat from the atmosphere processor, Gorman was unconscious for much of the remainder of the mission. He was killed during the escape from Operations. While he and Vasquez were surrounded by aliens in the air ducts, he detonated a M40 Grenade killing themselves and the aliens.

[edit] Drake

Drake, one of the two Smart Gunners, provided cover for the platoon's retreat from the atmosphere processor. Drake depleted his ammunition as he made his way to the APC, which Ripley had smashed through a sub-level wall in order to rescue the survivors. Switching to a flamethrower Drake continued to provide cover fire, but when Vasquez fired on an alien advancing on Drake, he was sprayed with acid blood and killed. In the throws of death, Drake aimed his flamethrower into the doorway of the APC causing a fire.

[edit] Frost

Frost, who's T-shirt reads "Peace by superior firepower", was the unlucky soul given the duty to carry all the magazines when the order to sling rifles was handed down in the atmosphere processor in Hadleys Hope on LV-426. He was killed when Dietrich torched him with her flamethrower, after she was attacked by an alien. As a result, the bag of ammunition he was carrying exploded, injuring Wierzbowski.

[edit] Crowe

Crowe was killed when the platoon on LV-426 a descended to sub-level 3 in the atmosphere processor and woke the dormant aliens.

[edit] Dietrich

Dietrich, the platoon's medical officer, examined Newt when she was found, diagnosing malnutrition but no serious side effects. Later, in the atmosphere processor, Dietrich discovered a live woman cocooned by the aliens. The woman went into convulsions and died when the chestburster she was carrying hatched. Dietrich was killed shortly after when an alien hiding in a wall grabbed her. In the process, Dietrich fired her flamethrower and inadvertently killed Frost, who was in her line of fire.

[edit] Ferro

Ferro was the dropship pilot who flew the Bug Stomper down to LV-426. After the APC set down Ferro took the dropship to a nearby landing pad to await orders. When Hicks ordered an immediate evacuation Ferro took off with Spunkmeyer, and unknowingly, an alien onboard. The alien killed Spunkmeyer and entered the cockpit killing Ferro. The dropship then flew out of control and crashed into the APC, destroying most of the equipment, weapons, and ammunition onboard, and leaving the marines without a way back to the Sulaco.

[edit] Spunkmeyer

Spunkmeyer is the co-pilot and weapons officer for the dropship crew. He assists Bishop in Medical while Bishop is examining the dead facehuggers on LV-426. Later, when Hicks radios Ferro for immediate evacuation, he is killed by a xenomorph that had snuck onboard the dropship while the bay door was left open. Finding a strange secretion on the steps, he tries to warn Ferro that something had gotten inside the ship, but, anxious to get to Hicks, Ferro orders Spunkmeyer to get in and seal the door before he has a chance to tell her what he found. Spunkmeyer never makes it to the cockpit, but the xenomorph does, and Ferro is also killed while trying to reach for her sidearm.

[edit] Van Leuwen

Van Leuwen is the company representative that conducts the inquiry into the destruction of the Nostromo. He concludes that Ripley's actions were unbecoming and her flight status is revoked. He also orders Ripley to attend six months of psychological therapy.

[edit] Wierzbowski

Wierzbowski a member of the platoon that was sent to LV-426 was injured when the bag carrying the collected ammunition exploded. He's killed by an alien shortly there after.

[edit] Ann Jordan

Ann Jorden, along with her husband Russ, and children Rebecca and Timmy, were sent by Lydecker and Simpson to investigate the coordinates provided by Carter Burke. Unbeknownst to the Jorden family the coordinates were, in actuality, the location of the derelict alien spacecraft which contained thousands of xenomorph eggs. Ann and Russ drove an ATV to the site where she and Russ investigated the spacecraft while Rebecca and Timmy waited in the vehicle. Ann dragged Russ back to the ATV after he was incapacitated by a facehugger (and subsequently died from the impregnation). Ann and Timmy also died in the xenomorph infestation of LV-426.

[edit] Russ Jordan

Russ Jorden, along with his wife Ann, and children Rebecca and Timmy, was sent by Lydecker and Simpson to investigate the coordinates provided by Carter Burke. Unbeknownst to the Jorden family the coordinates were, in actuality, the location of the derelict alien spacecraft which contained thousands of xenomorph eggs. Russ and Ann drove an ATV to the site where he and Ann investigated the spacecraft while Rebecca and Timmy waited in the vehicle. Russ was dragged back to the ATV by Ann after he was incapacitated by a facehugger (and subsequently died from the impregnation). Ann and Timmy also died in the xenomorph infestation of LV-426.

[edit] Timmy Jordan

by Lydecker and Simpson to investigate the coordinates provided by Carter Burke. Unbeknownst to the Jorden family the coordinates were, in actuality, the location of the derelict alien spacecraft which contained thousands of xenomorph eggs. Russ and Ann drove an ATV to the site where they investigated the spacecraft while Timmy and his sister, Rebecca, waited in the vehicle. Russ was dragged back to the ATV by Ann after he was incapacitated by a facehugger (and subsequently died from the impregnation). Timmy and his mother also died in the xenomorph infestation of LV-426.
