[edit] Origin of Oxford

I have not deleted this as I am open to correction, but surely the name Oxford derives from "a crossing place (ford) for Oxen" on the River Thames? I have left the citation tag in place for the first half of this passage, although i have less reason to disbelieve it. Alihaig 14:31, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
