School of Geodesy and Geomatics, Wuhan University known as sgg among the students (Chinese: 武汉大学测绘学院; Pinyin: Wǔhàn Dàxué Cèhuì Xuéyuàn) is one of 27 schools in Wuhan University, P.R. China. It is located at No.129 Luoyu Road, Hongshan District, Wuhan, Hubei Province. The school was founded in 1956 and has been regarded as the "Capital of Surveying and Mapping Education". When first founded, the school was named as Wuhan Surveying and Cartographying College. 1958, charge of the school was taken over by the State Surveying and Mapping Bureau of China. Because of its equality education in surveying and mapping, the school was renamed as Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping. In 1993, the department of Geodesy and Engineering Survey was merged together as School of Geoscience and Surveying Engineering. In February 2000, the Ministry of Education of P.R.China took charge of Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping and merged the New Wuhan University.
