[edit] Validity

According to Bradley Kuhn, first associate member of the Free Software Foundation, "the FSF's folks had to laugh and agree that 'DO WHAT THE FUCK YOU WANT' is a valid Free Software license"[1] Though the FSF suggested an indemnity clause, they do recognise the WTFPL license as a valid license.

[edit] Uses of the WTFPL

The WTFPL is not an exceedingly popular license, but some software has been released. In addition, the license can be applied to artwork and written material as well.[2] Freshmeat, a freeware software repository, includes a specific category for WTFPL software and artwork, with six current entries, four of which are authored by Sam Hocevar (the author of the license) (as of November 2007).[3]
