Dr. Wissam El Solh is a business entrepreneur with an international background. Born in Beirut in 1966, growing-up and educated in Europe & the US, he graduated with an MBA in Finance & Investments from the George-Washington University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. Dr. Solh started his career in 1988 as consultant to The World Bank, where he conducted an analysis of the informal financial sector in West Africa, resulting in the development of a specific strategy for the World Bank’s intervention at the level of savings mobilization and expansion of credit. Dr. Solh later joined K.B.L. Investment Bankers in Washington D.C. where he was involved in the development and refining of venture capital business plans for start-up companies. In 1989, Dr. Solh joined the private banking department at the Bank of Montreal, where he was responsible for elaborating and executing financial plans for high net worth individuals. Prior to concentrating his efforts on founding Netakeoff, the first internet incubator in the MENA region, Dr. Solh was also the Managing Director of Arab Traders; a trading house specialized in the supply of equipments and services to the Oil & Gas industries. Today Dr. Wissam El Solh is involved in many business ventures including schools & education consultancy, running furnished apartments, F&B operations, real estate development & facilities management between Beirut, Doha, Dubai & Jeddah. Personal interests include committed activity in regional forums on economic issues, and furthering the development of young entrepreneurs in the Arab World. Dr. Solh is a frequent public speaker at the United Nations, the International Centre for Science and Technology, and the American University of Beirut on the subjects of Incubation, Economics and Business Entrepreneurship. He is the co-founder of the Entrepreneurship Center of Lebanon, which encourages innovation and entrepreneurship among university students. He is also the co- founder of First Tuesday Beirut, the first Internet networking event in Lebanon. Fluent in Arabic, English, French & Spanish, Dr. Solh loves to travel with his family when not on duty or browsing the internet.
