WPOI, known as "101.5 The Point", is an FM radio station in Tampa, Florida playing an adult hits format with a playlist from the late 1970s to 1999. Prior to October 2007, they played music from the 1980s as well as the late 1970s and the early 1990s. This is why its tagline is: "The best of the '80s and more".

Corey Dylan is the station's morning drive DJ. Prior to October 2007, the station ran jockless at all times except for morning and afternoon drive. Dick Raines, Joel Ellott, and Jess Andrews have various on-air shifts on the station, in addition to shifts on sister station 97x.

Jeff Callahan occasionally served as the station's afternoon drive DJ.

The station's HD-2 channel is known as "Star 101.5" and plays more current hits mixed with a few from the playlist on its regular frequency.

[edit] Criticism

The station has been criticized[weasel words] for playing the same music over and over with very little variety. WPOI's playlist primarily consists of well-known songs that were former No. 1 hits on the Billboard Top 100, which puts strict limits on the variety of songs it can play.

The station also comes under scrutiny[who?] for use of the positioner "The NEW 101.5 The Point", despite the station existing in the Tampa market for at least eight years. (Co-owned WWRM also has used the moniker "The NEW Magic 94.9" since the late-1990s.)
